2014-03-06:
Came home at 12:00 and called someone, as agreed upon. No answer.
Why do I keep agreeing to do that, no one ever is there.
The guy that works for the mortgage place called me days ago and I still haven't reached him again. What the heck, people?
Then just a bit of writing, went over to see my parents, then over to RIT.
Finished up the bit where the station got invaded, and went on to a pretty interesting case. Found out the science vessel that was attached to us was performing human experiments. So we rooted that out and freed them. Honestly, our own government letting something like that happen, and on humans no less. I mean if it was some alien race, fine, who cares about then, right? Stupid Ferceans.
I mean, I'm not prejudiced.
Saturday and Sunday I finished the final chapters and started reading Helping People Club for errors. Just a hair over 100,000 words, as planned. Started the first chapter of Finding The Balance. Now I just need tons of plot and can start writing that in earnest.
Well, I'll write it in English, I'll translate it to earnest later.
Some calls over the weekend, like, 11. But I only made one actual appointment for tomorrow.
Huh?
Mon:
Shopping as normal. Bought a pillow at Aldi, they were $6 and mine is pretty old. I kept it around, Tinker likes to sleep on it. Otherwise, nothing exciting.
Did my paperwork, got to experience the joy of sending in the $2000 I had collected. I had noted that I had collected less, so that surprised me. I didn't think I missed any months… odd.
Did three costumers less then last February but made $10 more. Guess that new rate is working out.
Poor start to this month though.
Got a system dropped off, so I went through that.
And went to my 4:00, a job that would have been ten times easier on a Mac. I just wanted to crop a PDF, why is that so hard in windows?
Otherwise I know roughly what the next chapters are going to be about and decided what talismans Dean is making over the summer. Added that description and distributed the XP they got the last three months of school. (I hadn't been doing it, lazy I guess.)
Tues:
Worked on more overview for the new book.
Still cold, by the way. Not even 20 out there.
Not much work, the morning job was a busted hard drive. Laptop, brought it back here and ordered a replacement.
Then out to the second job, just straightening some things out for the guy.
Moved a few things around in the house, set up the ping pong table slat things over the pool table, which makes it easier to do things. So I moved the airbrush and piano system (I'll probably never use again, sigh) down there. So at least I don't have the excuse it's not set up.
As soon as I get power over there, anyway.
Wed:
Only one job, and a far away job, that that. The durable medical place in Le Roy. Quite the drive. His machine is from 2002 and he wonders why he can't do videos properly. Perhaps it's the 1.5Ghz P4?
Otherwise, I was reading WORM and thought a little bit about my own book. Called the car place to get my inspection scheduled. Thought I was nearing the end of WORM but "nearing the end" seemed to translate into "a dozen more very long chapters." So I still haven't finished it.
Thurs:
Slightly better today. Two jobs, and not as much driving. The first was I thought just putting numbers in his phone again, but he had other questions so I wound up spending an half hour there.
Then to go check out a machine to make sure a scammer hadn't left anything behind. Honestly, the guy is in a nursing home, but still allows scammers to charge him $250 and then an additional $400 for some "antivirus" software. Really? I'm in the wrong business. I'm going to start cold calling people, actually fix their computers, charge the same rate, and be way better off. No driving, no traffic, no gas. I mean some indian dude calls you up and you give him almost 700 dollars? For reals? I slog through snow to get to your freaking house and only charge a fifty. Something wrong with this picture.
The $250 charge went though but not the $400, which worries me. Where is it? Biding its time? He says he'll go to the bank tomorrow to try and straighten it out. It's a debit card, not a credit card, so I don't know what the laws are in a situation like this. Hopefully they can get him the money he's been charged back and get him a new card so the $400 doesn't actually get taken out.
Tomorrow's plan: Two in the morning. One cleanout and delivering the monitor/keyboard for the lady who left me out in the cold that day. Hopefully she'll be awake this time.
Got the SSD for laptop guy, I'll probably call him and deliver the machine tomorrow afternoon. Finished too late to call him tonight.
Otherwise, seeing my parents, and… maybe getting back to work on my own story.
Oh, looking over DgH one more time before it goes "final" like it went final before this time it went final.
No games this week, or next by the sounds of it.
But it might be above freezing tomorrow, so that's something, right?
Hope to see you all next week, stay warm out there.
