2014-01-16:

Fri:
Morning one went about as well as expected. Installed Dragon Naturally Speaking for a lady who seemed unable to follow simple directions, shown to her on the screen, which began the training and showed her various features of the software.

Then I went back to install some kind of weird birding program for the people nearby me, that I didn't do when I set up their machine.

The final one of the day I had to solve several issues for, but we got them all sorted out in the end, so that was fine.

Went over to see my parents, and then to Sean's to do the Infinite Vector game. That went pretty well, we finished the adventure we were in the middle of, and resolved the situation "peacefully." Didn't see Mizzy at all, does she still exist? Neil seemed to like his gift, and I got Dr Whooves! Shoot, I should have pictured Dr Whooves but I have a cat on my lap so I cannot now. Next week, if I remember. Cleaned out my little shelf, my cubes are now below, as the ponies were too tall to fit in the cubby. They now have the place of honor at the top.

Sat:
Got up late this morning because I got in so late. Called one person at 1:00 but didn't reach them. Went at 3:30 to do what turned out to be a corrupted profile, my favorite. Got her stuff moved over, and cleaned the machine out.

Got to Sean's again, played board games, lost… uh, most of them. Met a new person, he seemed like an upstanding fellow. Got some new stuff to watch.

Sun:
Watched new stuff!

Almost Human and Agents of Shield. Almost Human is almost the same plot as Alien Nation, just replace the human cop's partner with an android. They seemed to do a better job of it though. Alien Nation seemed more like a regular cop show that happened to feature an alien. This show seems to be about about the partnership.

Had 9 calls. Didn't reach two people, made two appointments. Huh?

Mon:
Did two appointments, but one was a person that called me that night rather then over the weekend. Did the shopping as normal, remembered to turn in my oil, finally. And my huge sack of rechargeable batteries to Radio Shack to recycle.

First one was a filthy, filthy machine. Honestly someone must smoke almost constantly next to it for it to be that bad. Took care of some issues, added RAM. Ancient XP machine of course.

Then a very simple job for the car guy.

Tried to drop off the laptop from the mortgage place but they were all gone? Huh?

Came back home and watched the rest of Agents of Shield.

Worked on a system that had been dropped off. Very infected.

Tues:
Yipes, they just keep coming.

Went over in the morning to set up the new Mac. Speedy. The machine, not her. But at least I got it done in the time I gave myself. Turns out the latest iWork has dropped Appleworks support so I had to download the trial of iWork 09 and put in a pirated serial number. Really, Apple? This is what you're driving me to?

Dropped off the laptop, they were there today.

Immediately over to the hard to understand Jamaican lady, answered some questions for her.

A very quick lunch and I was out again.

Setting up a new PC this time. It went about the same, except Office did not want to install. Kept complaining and giving me error messages that made no sense. I finally downloaded the complete 2.1GB installer and used that. Worked a treat. Stupid thing.

Only about an hour late to my 4:30, install SP2 for Vista so they could upgrade to a "newer" version of IE. Use firefox! It's right there! Was met by two princesses at the door. Installed SP2, that went fine. Windows Update didn't offer me any newer version of IE so I went to the MS website to get it. "Update your browser" it told me. It offered a button to press. I pressed it. I download it. I double clicked it. "Can't install on your version of windows"

Turns out it offered me the wrong one, so I had to manually go in and find it. That was IE 8. Two reboots and a bunch of waiting later, I finally started the install of IE 9. Meanwhile I had figured out how to work her chromecast device, and played a youtube video. Let It Go from Frozen. Then later the little girl was singing it. Sorry little girl's mother. :-)

Sorry for playing all those records over and over, my mother.

Anyway, Buddy had called 10 times because I got home at 7:30, the move is still on for the 31st. He's losing his phone so no more daily calls until then. I'm so happy I could burst.

Warmish, 45s today.

Only two jobs for tomorrow, oddly. Maybe the zerg rush is over?

Wed:
Much lighter day today. First one was just straightening some things out, and he wanted some old speakers hooked to his TV. Well, he needed an AMP and radio shack let me down (what? Shock! Surprise!) and as I was leaving I saw he had one just sitting there so I set that up.

Yeah, walked into radio shack for a cable. They had one that would serve. I needed two. I said "okay, I'll take the one" But they couldn't sell it to me because it wasn't in the system. Nice job, Shack.

Then I went over to the lawyer guy and increased RAM in the laptop, restored some files from the backup, and generally talked about various things.

Came back here, ate lunch, and finished up the system that was dropped off Monday.

Then I put the HD I got last night into the system I got last week and started reloading that.
Got it finished up pretty easily.

Got a call from Buddy, guess what? The move is off! Weeeeeeee. Something about some 6 week delay, who knows. So in march he'll either be "in the jewish home, some other place I forget what, or on the street." I certainly wouldn't say I prefer one over the other, but…

Thurs:
Even lighter. But at least I got a few calls.

Just one in the morning, going over some things with the new mac buyer. Got her straightened away.

In the afternoon I went to see the lawyer guy again, but she said she had just unplugged the router/etc and everything was fine. Thanks for calling me back and telling me not to bother now.
Then went to see the mortgage guy, see what I had missed on the laptop because he said the wireless wasn't working. The lights were on, but there seemed to be no one there. I knocked and everything. Sigh. Waited around a little while, but nothing. AArg.

So I came back here and wrote the second chapter of Book 3, Helping People Club. Brought together the worlds of The Unveiled World and my Dean series, and got Elizabeth her powers back. Also got Yasui a little jealous, so that's well on the way. Just 72,000 words or so to go. Probably will finish Starcraft and those Skyrim mods before I do any more though, those chapters were just squirming around in my head and needed to be put to page.

Game tomorrow, more IV, and a new mission for us.

Two jobs for tomorrow, a cleanout, and the other guy didn't say what he wanted and seemed a bit rushed so I didn't get to ask him. Oh well.

Turns out Buddy loses the phone on Monday. Why get it if you can't afford to pay for it?

Played some starcraft, I think I'm to the last mission.

Half way through the first month, hope it's being good to all you'ze out there.
