It'll be next week at this time I'll be filled up with something else entirely.

 

So friday of last week saw a disgustingly dirty case. Was she stuffing all the dust in her house into that computer for the last ten years? It looked like it.

Then at 4:30 I went to see RAM lady, and of course the extra RAM didn't help… at least not directly. I had to go into the BIOS and increase the RAM stolen by the video card to make them run properly. Toy games, card games, that need that much video RAM? Okay MS. No mom, she was in Penn that day buying stuff.

 

Then saturday I spent way too long at my 10:30 one. The printer she said wouldn't scan, but I opened Picasa and scanned just fine, if slowly. Finally figured out it was the network cable, which was only 10mb rather then 100. That'll do it. Spent time trying to figure out some other things like moving his iPhone stuff (which was on iCloud so already moved) and answering other questions. Thought of xmas gifts for the family. And then 6:00 did game remotely which went pretty smoothly. Found fleet, went to planet to tell them about fleet (warn them, really) and then fleet came to us. Space Battle! 

 

Sunday was pretty simple. Thundercats: one disk. Then skyrim. Then Borderlands 2 for a while.

 

The week began with… no calls. Weird, that hasn't happened for awhile. Got most (if not all) of my gifts ordered. Now if I could just get the thing that will allow me to make the gifts for some other people, that would be great. If it doesn't switch to "shipped" soon (I'll mail them again on the 18th) and then look into other options. Sigh.

Went to the dentist at 3:40, and got taken in at 4:15. Thanks. Found that the upper two fillings were decaying now (a year after the first two) so we scheduled for that. Got to my job late. Machine having problems, but not being able to boot from the CD drive, because apparently it's broken, didn't help matters. It seems to be the hard drive, but I can get stuff off of it. I ordered a new drive and I'll be trying out some things.

 

Tuesday I got home very late. When I got to my 5:00 the machine would power on and then sit at a flashing cursor. Helpful. A second machine, a desktop, needed the power supply changed. I did so. I tried to figure out the laptop, but nothing I did seemed to help. So I reinstalled windows. That didn't help either! AARG. So I took the hard drive out and plugged it into the desktop machine. It was coping but very, very slowly. Figured out that machine only had USB 1.1 ports. So I powered it off and installed a USB 2 card so coping the data didn't take me all evening. Finally got that finished and wiped the drive, and reloaded vista for the second time. That took, so then I took the HD out so I could copy the data back. Desktop wouldn't see it. So I took the desktop hard drive out and connected it to the laptop, which after some fooling around there, did work. Was finally able to finish the reload and go home. At 9:30.

We did win borderlands 2.

 

Back to the dentist the next day. Again, arrival time: 9:55. Seen: 10:15. He worked on it until 11:45. Guess he wasn't having that great a day? I know what that's like. At least now I have no silver fillings on one side in my mouth! Not that anyone's poking around there to see. Or has poked. Or will. Moving on.

Returned the system I've had for a couple of weeks because she just got back. Made no money as it was a warranty repair. Did I tell you about that? Getting the refurbished SSD and needing to buy yet another drive so I didn't have to deal with them anymore? I think so. Dentist cost: $400. Sheesh. Won Halo 4. That game was way too short. I was like, wait, that's it? That's the end? We hardly played it! Humph. 

 

Today wasn't much to speak of. Only one in the morning, a Mac with a busted HD. I should say an ancient Mac iBook G4. I was only going to ask for $20 as I wasn't there long, but he gave me $40. Thanks.

Got home, the leaf machine was just down the street, and turned down a side street, so I raked up the rest of the leaves. There's annoyingly some still on the tree, but those lower leaves just seem to hang on for some reason. Most are gone, hurray! Modeled Neil's xmas gift, now can I print it? Called roof guy, he said I'm third in line, so probably Nov is out, but hopefully early Dec. is in.

 

Got in the SSD for the laptop… which won't boot from an external optical drive! Thanks! You'll boot from an USB flash drive, but not a DVD drive? What? Trying now to create a bootable flash drive from the Vista disk, which is just going really well. That was sarcasm, in case you missed it.

 

Three for tomorrow, after this week it'll seem like I lot more. One dead hard drive (I suspect) a router install, and a cleanout. Almost as if I was a PC repair guy!

 

Saturday, game at 4:00, back to Pyre, gonna magic up the place.
