2012-06-14:
That I hate windows? I wouldn't want you to forget. Because I still do, you know.
Biggest issue this week was yesterday or the day before, when printing, the print spooler crashes. Sounds simple enough, yes? However, it's only with his crappy portable printer that this happens. Printing to the big laser in the other room works just fine. Oh, and did I forget to mention it works with two different users accounts, but not with a third?
Huh?
If it was a driver issues, well, it would be the same issue no matter what the user was. If it was the user account, a new user account wouldn't have the issue. It did. If it was the spooler itself, the other printer would do the same thing.
So where's the issue? I have no idea.
Work wasn't great this week, tomorrow I have a bunch of jobs, so that might save it. One for saturday too. Today I reset an iMac password for someone, a five minute job. Had a system dropped off, just a fake software removal, nothing big. A BSOD on a laptop, which was not "unmountable boot volume" but chkdsk fixed it anyway, thank goodness. A cleanout. Two. And of course dropping Ellen's system off. She's still in a tizzy for some reason, so I'm going back next week. Man, I hope she never has to buy a new machine. If using SP3 throws her into a spiral I can't imagine what Windows 8 would do to her!
Finished book 3, got it all read over and put onto the Kindle so mom can read it over, should she be willing.
Sean is supposedly reading my stuff now (yay!) so I'll probably start reading the second Demongate book over and making any fixes there. Three books written this year.
Far out. And plans for at least three more- will I write 6 books this year?????? Maybe five for the win, I did start the first book before 2012, after all.
No game this week, we thought we were going to do something Friday, but Sean has company coming he didn't expect, so that's off. We're postponing until Tuesday, of all days. I guess that's when they leave.
Made my shadowrun character, so I'm ready for that. He's going to be the drone/hacker guy, I bought him ($100,000) his own facility to make drones in. Heheheh.
Four jobs for tomorrow, and of course The Aged One must be dealt- I mean visited.
Berries are coming in nicely, I should have a lot this year too.
Place I went to today, they have a laptop with a smashed up screen. They sent it to the manufacturer (why?) and were quoted $800 for the repair!!! I looked on ebay, found the screen they needed, and said, yeah, I can do it for under $200. They were all like "Why didn't we call you first?" and I was like, "Yeah, why didn't you?" in my head. It's not like you've known both my father and me for YEARS. But nooooo rather then call me you go out and buy a crappy 1ghz machine to replace it. Didn't think they even made them that slow any more. Except for, I don't know, the iPad maybe? But this was supposed to be a laptop, you know, usable? A Windows 7 runner it ain't. So they got the screen and are sending back the "replacement" which, whoops, the left mouse button on the trackpad didn't even work. Yes sir, a real quality machine. So I didn't make anything there, yet, but I will be going back to replace the screen, so that's… more driving. Sigh.
