2012-05-31:
Much better, work wise, this week. Guess I won't have to sell the farm after all. At least if it keeps up, anyway.
Two jobs monday, a few things for a lady with a machine I think spotlight has gone nuts on, and a checkup for a lady that answered her phone and switched her brain off, just doing whatever the person on the other end told her to do. Really, it's that easy? Tried to hook up her new cable modem, and it gave an IP address just fine, but she was moving to VoIP on the first, so I guess it didn't want to actually work until then. Sigh.
Tuesday, shopping, as everything was closed on Monday.
Two unexpected jobs, replacing a power supply for a person I replaced a motherboard for just this month, and setting up a PC in a new office. I called her back, no answer, then she called me just after I got back in from the replacement, so I went over there. Work work work!
Then yesterday was four jobs, answering some questions for an older couple. Then viewing a building he wants wireless put into and some PCs set up, when it's done being built. Recorded a speech, found out the good microphone a customer had given me didn't actually work, thanks a bunch, so had to use the crappy built in one on my miniBook, the dell turned OS X machine. It worked out.
Then last over by grandma, malwarebytes didn't find anything but combofix did, and the machine was fine again.
This morning was a "call me at 9:30" that turned into "can you come over?" I hate cable boxes, by the way. I seem to recall having trouble with them before, and I just could not get the HDMI out to work. I hooked up component, which still looked like crap. I mean his picture was terrible- I've never seen a display so bad. Weird. He's going to talk to the cable company about it. Weird. Wait, already said that.
Then a quick checkup and answered some questions for a guy with a fan on a table in front of his house for a dollar. Other Sean brings a fan with him, so I figured I would leave the fan at Proper Sean's house so he would have one less thing to carry. I'm such a thoughtful guy, really. Then to a lady who messed up her screen resolution and couldn't figure out how to fix it. Also gave her some more RAM (Really, 384 MB in 2012? Phones have more then that) and diplomatically broke the news her computer sucked.
Aw, who am I kidding, there's nothing diplomatic about stuff I say.
Then the last one, well, she said she got a BSOD when running malwarebytes, but I ran it twice, and every other scan I could, and it found nothing. So, whatever, I guess?
On the phone with a lady whose laptop I reloaded three months ago, Windows Update was failing for 9 updates. After an hour of watching "trustedinstall" take 100% of CPU time on the machine, I just said, "I'm turning it off. Deal."
Have I mentioned lately that I hate windows? Oh right, I hardly did any work the past two weeks, so what did I have to complain about?
Over to see My Buddy tomorrow at one, sell him a mouse. Of course it's Aged One Day, wonder if she'll be half asleep this week as well. Nothing planned for Saturday.
Stan was supposed to send out an email about Shadowrun, but maybe it's not to happen?
Of course the real news is Lonely Divide. Wrote all of the Big Rescue chapters and am now working on the final, the last, the very end, chapter 17, "endgame". The word count stands at 86,468 so I expect around 90,000 words for this one. Almost done! Woohoo!
Got a Subaru "maintenance notification" for an "important, minor service". Really? It's so "important" you sent me a whole letter, in the mail and everything, but it's a "minor" service. Why not just drop the word "minor" totally? With the "coupon" it's only $41.90, so it must be "minor" as that only covers like, ten minutes of work, right?
Good weather this week, nice and warm. Little chilly today though.
