2012-05-24:
In a word, still crappy.
Thought it was going to be a better week, as I had two good jobs on Monday, both cleanouts that went well. Tuesday was of course the sandblasting place, which wasn't the place I thought it was! I recalled later they had just started their move the last time I had worked for them, but didn't recall that on my way over there. Silly. But I found it, and made sure to look around just a little, make sure my description in Lonely Divide was still accurate. It was, though there was a yellow forklift I might have to write in. Then nothing.
Yesterday I thought I was going to see Boris, but no, he canceled, so I did nothing instead. I did do that job today though, plus went to see Bert and see why his network equipment was acting up. Or was it? It's unclear. Sigh. Try to explain HTML Tables to a man over 80. I'm writing up this example that clearly explains what you have to do to make a table so he can put his words in a nice, neat column for his blog about words. It's a template, really, all he had to do was fill in his words. But I wanted him to understand what the markup meant, in case he became interested and wondered, what else can I do with this markup stuff? He's all like "how do you remember all that?" I say "It's only three things. *Table* *TR* and *TD*. Can you remember three things?"
It's the same trying to get Ellen's computer reloaded. "Oh, what's going to be different?" "Oh, I can't learn anything new!" I literally said to her, "Yes, how horrible to have to learn something new." Like it was going to cause her physical pain to crack open that
memory palace and add a new room to it.
You know what I just learned that was new? Blender. Very odd interface. Made that 3D model I posted a little while ago. I went from knowing absolutely 0 about Blender (a very hostile to learn program, if I may say so) to making that model in a couple of hours of study. You could learn a new photo program, Ellen. Really.
One 9:30 for tomorrow at the last minute, so that's fine, still, it's killing me here, you know? Two awful weeks = bank account slim.
So what have I done instead? Finally did last month's paperwork today, just in time for doing this months next week.
Up to 70,110 words in Lonely Divide, and I have only four more chapters to write, and I know what they will all be. Wrote like 5000 words just today! Read that again. 70,000 words! That means since I started writing, 11/12/11 to 5/24/12 that's a little more then 6 months, I've written a total of 232,388 words. Now all I have to do is convince people to give me money for the pleasure of looking at them.
Made up signs for two PCs going into the shops, please sell right away PCs, thank you.
I have, oddly, made several appointments for next week, which is of course weird. But as long as the work gets done, I'm happy.
Put the monitor from the dead motherboard PC up again, it's been up I think three times now? Finally stripped the panel out of the outer casing, maybe that will move it a little faster. Also started it at $99 rather then $149 so *crosses fingers*.
Game Saturday at 4:00 like last week, Pyre, so hopefully we'll magic the place up. Oh yeah.
Aged One Day tomorrow, can't wait to hear about the poor food, bad help, and hurt ankle like I have the last 102 times I've gone there. (minus the ankle bit, which is new) Still, family and all that, right?
Enjoy your Memorial Day, just about everything is closed around here, so the shopping must be done Tuesday, a break in routine my Asperger self looks none to kindly upon, but he'll get over it.
Know what I'll be doing?
