2012-05-21:
Saturday went mostly well. Called the people that had left messages on Friday and got over to see two people The first was the person that probably killed their machine running XP SP3, luckily the repair procedure worked so I didn't have to do it twice. The whole time he sat there telling me useless facts like his vet saying retrievers are the most popular dog she sees. Really? That's interesting! Or wait, no, I don't care. Not as bad as Kimberly of old (oh, there was a psycho) but still annoying.
The second was more troublesome. Went over there at 2:00 hoping to be out by 3:30 to get to Sean's by 4:00. Well, their machine cleaned up nicely, vacuumed out tons of dust, the usual. But reboot the machine and the RAM usage goes through the roof! An XP machine jumping up to almost 1gb of RAM used? It should be less the 300 MB. Of course the process manager, that shows the RAM usage of every process, can't account for this massive outpouring of electronic emotion so what good is it. So I went until 3:45 and they even said I could research it and come back later, which was fine with me.
Game went well, though not according to plan. We got a bunch of money from the king of the elves for rescuing his daughter, oh and stopping the guy who was going to sacrifice her to bring back an evil demon, so we went shopping. Of course there are about a billion spells so we… bought them all. Well, not really, but we picked up a lot of them.
In truth we should have just run the adventure and done the shopping trip offline, but spells can be cast from writings, and one of them may come in handy, so we wanted to have the full arsenal to bare, so to speak.
Sunday was spent doing a bunch of cleaning around here, as it's finally warm enough to have doors open, so I mopped, which was a treat for me, got the cobwebs off the bathroom walls, you know, make it look a little bit less like a single guy lives here? Not much point, I admit, only people who see it are my parents, and they're pretty resigned by now, I think, that I'm not bringing girls home. But as cleaning goes, I think every five years or so you really have to make that effort, don't you agree?
Also The Mentalist Season 4 ended so I… started watching it. Yes.
Today, work was actually fine. Bank and such in the morning. Two jobs, both cleanouts, and actually both the same virus! The first guy said he got sucked by some fake USPS email, the second I don't recall her saying. Anyway, both went smoothy. Two jobs on tap for tomorrow, though Bobby's hard drive is probably dead in his iMac, so no can help there. The other is the sandblasting place I put into the book, be nice to get a look inside again and make sure I got the details right.
