2012-02-20:
Did everyone have a good weekend? Saw grandma on friday as usual, but late, she had her door closed until 3:30. Pity.
Saturday, baked cupcakes, did one job for a very cute girl, Mac user, smart. She just had Word issues, shock and surprise, a microsoft product not behaving as it should? Also looked at her mom's laptop, it needed some cleaning, and I hooked the printer up to her router so she could print from anywhere.
Then to Sean's for the game, and more rule tweaking. I realized that certain things could have energy applied to them to improve their results. Spirit Energists can charge energy to use more in one action then anyone else. Thus, if someone took Spirit Energist and something else, but learned no other spirit energy skills, but used the charging energy property to improve things rather then actually upping skills, it was broken. He originally agreed with me, but left it as is, then decided to change stuff again. So part of Sunday I rewrote sections of Due Process to reflect the new-new-new way of doing things.
Game was… uh, weird. But it is the Perfect Horizon game, so I've come to expect it, I guess. No one but Mizzy got to really do anything, and it still turned out badly. Huh. And another episode of Blake7.
Sunday, worked on book 2: the unveiled world. I have 3.6 chapters done, they're about to have their first "adventure". What is it? You'll have to read the book!
Two jobs today, shopping, bank was closed of course, but I did use the silly new ATM to deposit my cash at least. First job: I'm sending my Resume in works format! Why can no-one open it? Hummm. I'll give you openoffice, said me. I get there. You already have openoffice, silly! But you have a copy of word from someone else? Fine, I'll install that.
Oh, and you want to watch netflix from your computer to your TV? TV doesn't have VGA port? Okay, I'll give you a video card with HDMI, it'll be easy!
TWO HOURS LATER: ME: "I HATE WINDOWS" After messing about (loaded three different drivers) I finally got the video card to recognize there was a TV there. It even knew the brand of the TV. Of course the nvidia control panel kept being shut down by DEP. Tried to tell DEP to shove it. Oh no, this program HAS to be run with DEP enabled. Gave up, as I was going to be late to my 2:00 appointment. I got there at 11:30. It wasn't even XP, it was Vista, but maybe that was my problem?
So I grabbed a quick bite to eat on the way to the next one, as lucky for me it was right on the way. He or someone was spamming as him, so I changed his passwords and cleaned up his two computers. They were both pretty bad. Also, he could not use rational thought. He had a kindle fire, right? Touchscreen interface. He asks me "How do I delete something from this shelf?" I look over the interface, which is completely bare of any controls of any kind. I reason that, given there are no controls, you probably just touch the item a few seconds and a menu will pop up.
Oh look, despite my never having used this device, I know more about it then the owner of said device, as that worked perfectly.
How much more obvious do we have to make stuff here, anyway?
Then came home. Worked on story, then on DVD for a guy, putting his own voice track over a slideshow. One call, but no answer, sigh. Guess I get to work on the book more tomorrow too.
Just have to figure out exactly how I'm going to handle what Dean and the others find where they are. Hummmmm.
