2011-11-16:
Quite busy the last two days, both work wise and not work wise.
Here's the rundown. Shopping as usual monday, no surprises there. Went out to Fairport to clean a machine, which I did. Then over to a lady who took out her paper tray, something you're not supposed to do on her model, and I guess didn't want to force it. So I did. And it was fine. Then as I had a bunch of time I went to my 4:30 to see about his problem printing. Well, his machine wasn't at fault at all, I only realized something was wrong when I noticed the front machine looked different. (It's a psychologist's office) Turns out they had replaced the machine and whoever did it (and why wasn't it me?) didn't bother to ask about anyone actually using the shared printer because it had a totally different name so no machine would ever find it. Also they had some bizarre security suite on there with a firewall, like the built in one isn't good enough, that was blocking everything, so I had to mess with that to get it to work. *shakes head* So I was a bit late to the next one, setting up the iPad with the wireless. Her desktop machine was formatted fat32 for some reason, and it was pretty messed up apart from that, so I took it home to reformat. Which I did.
Yesterday, put the hard drive in at the dentist place. I knew there was a reason I didn't do drive-drive copies, it was taking for-freaking-ever to do, so I left. An hour and it had copied 20% of 30gb. Right. So I came back home. Got more christmas-y things squared away. Out at 2:00 to return the system from yesterday. Finish the dentist place. Then at 5:00 to look at a laptop and wireless issue. Their frontier stuff had been replaced, so they now had two routers, and I think the old one was dying. So I took it out, turned on the frontier one, and looked at the laptop that was acting really weird. So again, took a system home to baby. Figured this one would be easier then yesterdays as it was newer and faster. Wrong. Trying to get her data off (oh, no back up? Nice job) kept giving me i/o errors, meaning either her drive or Vista was sort of eating itself. I stumbled upon the fact that copying with the command line would skip the bad files (after awhile) but keep going, while the finder just stopped cold, making me start over. So I let that grind through what it could get and formatted the machine. The first time I installed Vista it gave me some crap error about the registry, but I tried it again just to make sure and it took that time, and has been running fine since, so maybe it'll be okay?
Thus far today I've put a few more leaves out front and I'll probably do that paperwork from last month that's been sitting there 16 days now. I'm taking the laptop back at 5:00, and My Buddy Bruce has called me every day the last four days, so my life has been enriched there. Then for thursday (one week to Thanksgiving, by the way) I have a 10:00 and a 5:15 already. Two people I didn't reach yesterday, one who called me again this morning, so still no real calls for today.
This Vista system is now on 32 of 53 updates, and it did I think 83 last night, so that's, what, 136 total updates? Nicely done, Microsoft.
Paperwork time, hope everybody's week is going well.
------------------------------- Skyrim
I'm made of paper again, finishing the Mage quest got me a sweet robe, with a 15% reduction to all spell costs, 50+ magic and 100% magic regeneration effects. You couldn't have put that on a breastplate of some kind? Wait, that's three effects. The max in the game I can do, with 100 skill rating (the max) in enchantment, is 2. I hate it when games do that.
During the mage battle, I had two companions and one of them just sort of fell down on the stairs like a statue and didn't move again. Weird.
Tried to take some guy to "look upon" some ancient tree, but he couldn't keep up or something, because very soon out of town he just disappeared. Where did he go?
Found a lady relaxing in a hot spring. Win.
I had no face for awhile, that was disconcerting. I was just this suit of clothes walking around. Luckily, no one seemed to notice.
Shot some necromancers up who were sitting at a table with lighting. One disappeared halfway into the floor, the other vanished completely. Huh.
And a dragon skeleton head popped out of the inn, scared me. Something keeps killing dragons in that town, their skeletons are piling up. Seriously. It's not me, I keep running away from them, so I guess that one dead guard that's still lying there comes back to life to fight the dragon off before lying down again. I don't know.
Oh, I was running from a dragon and this bear charges up and kills me. Uh, really? Bear is going to stick around while there's a DRAGON flying around? Uh, no. Put a spell trap spell on a wolf one time too, while running, and the dragon comes up behind me and toasts the whole area. "You captured a soul" the game informed me. Poor wolf. I only wanted to raise my skill. Oh well, you made a great enchanted item I immediately sold, raising both my enchanting skill and my speech. So thanks.
On the tree quest I went into a temple and there were sick people lying in beds. Wait, what, I thought. I have 5 potions that "cure any disease" and magic that, when I touch someone they get healthy. How can there by any sick people in the world? I would have been glad to give them my potions. I tried healing them, but they didn't seem to notice. Much less thank me. Jerks.
