Never actually watched that episode.
Just some highlights from the weekend I guess. Friday, just like that, more work on the Paragon Database. Only thing left for the plain character is the skills section. Grandma is very sleepy.
Saturday, only thing of note was the 2:30 at the medical place, then waiting two hours reading A Spell for Chameleon until game time. Sadly, us non-hackers (read Neil and I) didn't have much to do. Found that same sort of thing in the shadowrun game, actually. The whole "hack the planet" mentality. Because everything in futuristic games is totally computerized, hackers get to do all the work. Oh well. Fantasy game next week.
Sunday I played some Deus Ex, which I realized in the first mission shared the same flaws as the original game. I'm sent into a warehouse full of "possibly three dozen men" and given the choice of weapons: lethal or non-lethal. Naturally, I choose non-lethal. And get handed a pretty sweet tranquilizer rifle and… seven darts. Seven. To take out 48 men. Riggggght. So I snuck past some, put some to sleep, and… ran out of ammo and started killing them. So much for that.
Also, why is it that when I pick up a gun from a sleeping crook with the intention of selling said weapon, I take the ammo out of it and it sort of vanishes, never to be seen again? Where did it go? Did it melt? Was it made of chocolate? Give me my sellable stuff, dude!
And the shady guy in the old gas station who'll set me up with some sweet firepower? He only has 7 boxes of ammo for my dart gun?
Oh, and I was going to be super sneaky and go over a wall, right? So I see these two big, heavy boxes so I carry them over to some other big, heavy, non-movable boxes and stack them up. I'm about two inches from the top of the wall, I mean I could step over it, right? No. Game won't let me. I can shoot over the wall. The area is one I'm next going to. But can't actually go over the wall. Right.
And there are more colors then brown, black and gray in the world. Really.
That aside, it's not a bad game.
Had the most bizarre phone call Sunday night with crazy lady. She's telling me about how her internet connection wasn't working earlier, then launches into this totally unrelated story, and then she's all like "are you following me?" and I'm like "Yeah, but what does that all have to do with your computer problems?" because I don't call up my plumber and start telling him about my latest vacation or whatever, (totally ignoring the fact that my plumber is my father and I haven't taken a vacation in 10 years, so work with me here, you know what I'm talking about) and she's like "Nothing, I thought you had a sense of humor." It went downhill into la-la land after that. I could put it into words, but I'm honestly trying to forget it. I won't of course, I remember conversations from years ago, it's a curse, I know. I'm still weirded out by the whole "conversation". Very, very bizarre lady.
Of course My Buddy Bruce called me after that, and again tonight, but tonight's call was only 32 seconds, a new record, so there's that.
Today: shopping. Aldi has toys, must be The Season. Did my three jobs, Stewart was kind enough to have one of his men test my car battery, it's in the "weak" zone under load, exactly as I suspected. Guess I'm buying a new battery next week.
Speaking of buying, I paid for LiveCode today, it was the last day to get the animation engine free (a $79 dollar value), and my Visa was declined! I guess because the developers are in the UK? I had to bust out the paypal card, which worked just fine, and the money came out of the exact same place, so I guess Visa didn't get its 3% on that one. Sorry guys.
Three again for tomorrow.
No kiddies tonight, so it's just me, my big bowl of candy, and more Psych.
