2011-10-16:
First one Friday was a bit odd, hadn't seen it before. Apparently her rundll.exe (a windows program that runs .dll files as executables, why they need to do this rather then just making whatever it is an executable, I don't know) was removed somehow, so she couldn't open control panels. Weird. Copied it over from the windows CD and ran the standard tools, which was fine. Number two was just setting up a router, which went just fine. I was a little late because I wasn't coming from the direction I wanted so I had to go a bit farther up 390 to get to staples, then back down again. Usually of course I have a router, but I had just sold the other one so I didn't have a replacement yet. Otherwise, no problem.
Came back home, hung out a bit. Got everything into the car for Sean's Birthday and gaming, (so I thought) and left to return the PC at 3:30. Forgot to set up her mail, and apparently I plugged the speakers in wrong, she called me later they weren't working. Sigh. Went to go see grandma, still having trouble breathing (the O2 machine was right there, unused) and falling asleep (I mean she was falling asleep, not having trouble falling asleep), and in a lot of pain walking down to dinner. Left for Sean's. Got half way there and realized I hadn't actually picked up the binder that had the character sheets in it. Sigh. Turned around and went home. Then back. At the very least I was only half way there, rather then standing at the door. And it strengthened my resolve to look into finally creating the ultimate Paragon App, so I can put everything on dropbox and just get it anywhere in the world. I was looking into LiveCode because it's cross platform, but could it do everything I wanted? More on that later.
Did the first half of the final battle. About an hour per second of combat. Oh well, at least we're somewhat winning. Though I wanted to leave at 12:00 and left closer to 1:30.
For an appointment saturday that never happened. She called me in the morning to cancel. Super. Thanks. Called Mom's house to see if Dad was around so we could go over to Grandma's and finish up the heavy carrying that needed to be done. He wasn't. Looked into LiveCode samples and got the trial downloaded to play around with. We went over there after lunch and finished up. Wood carried up. Zillions of nuts thrown out. Took us a couple of hours.
Went back home, cleaned up around here, did some more LiveCode stuff. We had talked about finishing the adventure but moved it off to Monday night.
Then today was maximum LiveCode day. Did some things wrong or backwards that slowed me down, but I made a sample app that I think incorporates everything I'll need the bigger app to do. Funny to be using hypertalk again. It can ever open my old DeathCastle stacks! Which I did, and shuddered, and shut down again. Have to dig up Sean's Alphie, I'm sure I have it around someplace.
Oddly, not many calls, thought I would have more. I got a bunch (5) on Friday, including My Buddy Bruce and the Durable Medical place in LeRoy who changed ISPs without telling me, so now their network is half busted. Next time, ask me what's going to go wrong and I'll tell you, and then be there the day you change to fix it. But nooooo. But then yesterday and today, nothing. Weird. With the shopping and my 11:30 already scheduled on Monday, then to LeRoy in the afternoon (that'll kill the whole afternoon) that's Monday gone. So I guess it's okay.
Upcoming events: Monday: finish final battle in Demongate. Friday: hope to see Harry Potter with my parents. Saturday: it's off to Buffalo to see Jim Gaffigan.
Have to pick up candy for all those kids that won't come to my door in two. Though there have been years I've seen a few. Must be a rough neighborhood around here or something. Yup, rural Webster, don't want to be wandering around there after dark.
