Oh wait, it was just a tiny wobble around here? Whew, that was a close one. I was sitting there, thinking "is my brain on the fritz or are the walls around here swaying a little bit? Well, no harm done!

 

Job number one was fine, just making sure a machine was running fine, it was, and as they didn't call me when they bought the machine, getting them a proper anti-virus and itunes and all that. Hadn't been there for several years, but he still had that crappy old Performa on the table. You can throw things out you know guy.

 

Then over to Bob, where my hatred of PCs once again burned bright as the noonday sun. On the moon. Turned it on and it blue screened. No surprise there, it's windows, right? So I tried the repair procedure, and midway through that it blue screened again! Great, I thought, Just What I Needed. So I ran memcheck for fifteen minutes, didn't seem to report any problems. Tried the repair again (really, just rebooted it as it restarted that automatically) and this time it went through. I was poking around stuff and what do you know? I saw him last night on the TV show, He was blowing it out, a'really knockin' em dead. Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in his head. No, wait, that's not right, I mean it blue screened again. Super. So at this point I figure it's some kind of hardware problem and ordered him a new processor, as that's basically the only other thing I can change about his machine. It's a crappy P4, 6 year old probably, honestly, a machine twice as fast would run you, what, $300? It's not worth it.

 

Came back home, a quick lunch, bit of a tremor, too bad I hadn't been kissing someone at the time, it would have been the only time in my life I could have said with 100% honesty: "Baby, I felt the earth move just then." Oh well, just sling it on the pile of things I'll never do. Went out again to set up an iPad. Got his really old Dell with 128MB of RAM working. Hooked up the router too, he had his RR connection plugged it via USB, wow, that takes me back, because his machine had no ethernet port. Double wow. So I fixed him up a 1 foot cable and an ethernet card, took off his 2005 Norton Antivirus that had never been renewed, and downloaded him a calculator for his iPad.

Stopped at Lou's again on the way home, he's in rough shape let me tell you. I guess he fell, didn't break anything but…

 

Then back home. More eating, couple of calls. The medical place in LeRoy wants a new printer set up, great, there goes a whole morning. At least I've got all those cute girls over there to look forward to seeing. My 4:00 telling me she didn't get the laptop yet and wants Saturday instead. And… that's it. Plenty of time for tearing the basement to pieces over at grandma's, I guess.
