Is it even possible? It's been so pathetic around here I didn't even post yesterday, but the prospect of going to four places tomorrow has me giddy as a slightly giddier me then I was before it happened. I did something yesterday, oh right, the iMac. Turns out it might possibly actually be the power supply. Of course, I only had a power supply for the smaller iMac which couldn't actually dive the backlight on the screen, but it did turn on every time I hit the button. So I ordered her a $129 power supply because that's what she wanted. Silly.
Otherwise I watered things, read some stuff, worried a bit, and tried to keep cool.
Yes, it's summer here in Rochester, my car gauge said 102 at one point while driving, and 100 while just sitting under the shady shade of the shady tree. Huh. That seems sufficient warmth, thank you.
Today I looked at a couple of concerns on one laptop, and a flakey keyboard on another. Somehow the 5,6,g,h keys were electrically connected such then when you typed a g you got a g5 and similarly h6. Weird. So I ordered a new keyboard on ebay, just after I recalled I had 13.xx in "ebay bucks" which was almost the exact amount the keyboard was. I owed like a dollar and four cents. Sweet. So I made a little profit there.
Also at 1:30 realized the person I had been trying to reach would never pick up because I was dialing the wrong number. Somehow got an 8 instead of a 6, meaning I was leaving messages for some stranger. The polite thing to do in that situation, I think, would have been to call me back and say "I think you are calling the wrong number" but you know, why don't you go ahead and not do that.
Got the right number, and at 2:30 I was there to pick up the laptop, then came home with it, put the new HD in, reloaded XP (hate you windows) moved their stuff over and got it back to them by 6:00. It didn't take me that long of course, I ate dinner in there too. Talk about customer service!
Also read some more today and more trying to stay cool, not that it's hard, it's not that hot out, right? *evil grin* There are times when a pool would be nice… but then even nicer would be my mortgage paid off, so what can you do?
Four calls today, so it's a full day tomorrow what with Grandma and all. Don't know if anything with Sean is going down, Mizzy leaves on Saturday and she's not doing anything with us, she says, that night, and nothing has really been discussed, so.
Anyway, I can finally get the money for both the internal and external hard drives I've had sitting here, give the guy his other proper stick of RAM and take a look to see why some guy's Java games aren't loading. At least the first three are very close together. The forth person I didn’t reach. Technically the internal HD lady I didn’t reach either, but she named some times that were good, so I put her down and hopefully if it’s not good she’ll call me back.
And I got one for saturday, a new customer even, right while sitting here. Imagine that. This could be the edge of the next wave! Ride the wave, dude!
Oh, and there was some new OS, lying or maybe Lion? Who can say. I can't install it on my real iMac I guess because it's only 32 bit, and of course getting it to work on my Hackintosh would be a hassle. Oh, and a bunch of stuff like Office, Graphic Convertor, some old games I have wouldn't work anymore because they're PPC code not intel. Sigh. Only office would really bug me, I'm not buying another copy of that. I could move to LibreOffice of course, but I paid for this copy with my own money, darn it. I should get more then ten years out of it. Wow, it's been that long. Huh.
How about that, a Mac OS X version I don't immediately upgrade to. What's the world coming to?
