Why I hate PCs. 

 

Happy first day of summer! Now all you have to look forward to is shorter days and eventual winter again. HA HA! Oh wait.

 

So today wasn't much better then yesterday. Dropped off the laptop and loaded office, fine. All the way over to the strathallan, but of course Hellen isn't there. So she gets called, and she was all, oh, I thought you came in last night because it was working, so that's why I didn't call you. Uh, did you see a bill? Did you ask anyone if I had been there? No? Okay, then, thanks.

 

Then to the real problem. System is Blue Screening all over. So I notice the hard drive is pretty hot and the heatsink has a little blockage problem, but not too much. I decide to clean it anyway. I put it all back together and now… it won't even come on. I try different RAM. I try different processors. I try a different power supply. I unplug everything. Nope, blank screen, haha. I am about to give up and realize, oh, I've left my boot CD in the drive, so I plug the CD-ROM drive back in and power the machine up to get it out. Oh look, after an hour it's decided to start booting again, after me having done nothing to make it do so. So, what, it taunted me for an hour and when I decide to give up, it works again? So I keep working on it, and it just BSOD no matter what I do. Even in safe mode, running Combofix. Super. So I tell him I'll take it home and try another HD just in case it's really getting too hot, but no, it doesn't even get to the windows setup screen before it's BSODed again. Great. So he's decided to put $100 worth of motherboard+processor (because I don't know the exact cause) into a five year old (at least) machine rather then, what, $300 for a new one? Ooookay.

 

Then to a place I actually sold… a $5 USB cable. The printer lady I was at last week, she wanted her laser printer hooked back up next to the new inkjet. I made ten whole dollars there.

 

Back here, dinner, made phone calls, of which I had a surprising number. Full day tomorrow, including getting up early to walk the Pup, and coming back here at 1:00 to take him out again. Dropping off my loaner system to John, some cleanouts, oh, another fun BSOD yip yip, oh it'll be so joyful. So very joyful.

 

Oh yes. Joyful.
