If you make no money from it? Seriously, today out of five appointments I had all of one billable hour. One. 

 

Shopping, as usual. Bought a router, a package of sharpies and some invoice forms with my staples ink things and like $6.00. Nice. I had two months worth as I don't seem to get email reminders they're ready or anything, gee wonder why? Oh right, so staples gets free money.

 

So the first one was, oh, spybot is starting when your machine boots up and spybot sucks. Turned off. Done. Then there was the lady who frontier said "oh, it's your computer." Wrong. It was your equipment all along, jerks. Then to see Bert, who couldn't get his ProSeries to work because of some silly "can't find this" message when he opened it. Somehow his Y: (a shared drive) must have not connected or something, though there was no big red X through it. I just opened it up and oh look, it works again. Then over to Rebath, where I pull in and he comes out, "oh, I got it working about an hour ago and called you!" Right. So I didn't even set foot in that place. Then finally the last AOL user on earth (I wish) with a very odd problem. Her mail was there, but the from, subject, etc was all blank. And when she read it, the reply button was grayed out. I followed some AOL help directions and sorted that one. So finally, someone I can bill! So with gas and wear on the car, I figure I almost broke even today. 

 

Credit card didn't come, so no joy there.

 

Weekend was fine, did the one job saturday, did some good. Then looked at a hard drive here, and got a laptop to reload that was in chinese. Oh crap, I just remembered, I didn't go through the annoying phone system crap with that laptop because he came and got it right away, it'll complain in a month. Oh well, I can just tell him, I still have his HD-less machine. Then dad came over and we had spicy wings and watched Dr Who. Done. I was watching Avatar the Last Airbender movie before he arrived, and decided to see if I could find the series online. I did. So sunday I watched a bit of that, mowed the lawn, cleaned, made calls.

 

Friday was a total bust, work wise. Set up Jim's laptop just fine, he had a time machine which copied all back his stuff no problem. Just made it to the movie, which was… well, I liked Iron Man better, though his costume wasn't quite as hokey as I imagined. Still, I'm glad it was only $5.00 to see it.

Then over to a machine I thought wouldn't take me very long, but it was messed. Up. I brought it home in the end. The thing is, I hooked the hard drive up to my machine and it seemed okay. But when it's in the machine proper, it won't boot. From CDs or anything. Tried like 5 different disks, my XP Live CD, Linux CD, Vista Boot CD, tools CD (to run a RAM check, which worked) nothing. It got to a certain point and poof, no go. Not a hang, just like, eh, I don't want to boot any further. But take the drive out, and it boots fine. Attach another drive, and again, fine. Weird. I called him tonight, but no answer. Was late to see grandma (big loss I know) and then went to Sean's. Game was, well, it's my own fault really. I made a character I thought I would play once, but what use is a Jedi when hackers rule the earth? I'm learning more mental stuff now, so maybe I'll have a purpose in that game soon. But I helped absolutely zero that game. Sigh.
