2011-05-22:
saved the world again.
Sorry to all those "rapture loving fools" or whatever, the world keeps turning.
And turn it did this weekend as well, the friday drive to Hilton was long and boring as expected, no surprises. Went to see grandma, then Sean's as expected. Game went well, Albert decided to go as a cat instead of a huge hulking dragon man which served him well. There wasn't even any combat, how about that. I do love being an Alchemist. And of course the half-demon spirit hunter that popped up just as the final round was beginning was a nice touch.
Saturday I did two jobs, the first of which started a half hour late because they were late. I tried to call them, but got Dr. Jay instead, making me think somehow maybe he had called me and I just hit the button on the phone as it started to ring? So that was a weird conversation. But no, that wasn't their number somehow. So I was trying to use my laptop to get their number and they pulled in. Using an LCD screen on a very sunny day is not very fun.
Then plugging the TV in which I thought would go really well... didn't. The cable box didn't have HDMI but their crummy old DVD/VCR did, as did the new blue ray player. Well, trying to use the blue ray player gave me an error message (yes, an error message on a TV) though it saw it was there just fine. Component worked! Same story with the older one, where is it? Using component out of the cable box gave me a black and white image, which was a nostalgia trip for him I'm sure. Plugging the same cables into the blue ray and it worked fine. So in the end, it was coax for the cable box, standard RCA for the old player, and component for the blue ray.
Here I was thinking HDMI was supposed to make all those freaking cables go away, but I guess not. Honestly, we went from plugging in a cable with a red, white, yellow and calling it done to having to mess with aspect ratios, and 720/1048 and p and i and nothing talking to anything else, and that's somehow better? Oh, you just bought a very large, beautiful picture HD TV. Oh, you want to actually see an HD picture? I'm sorry, we can't have that happen.
Personally I'm glad I don't have to mess with all that.
Anyway, came home, cut the back lawn so it all looks nice and pretty again. Watched more Bleach, then did some Left4Dead2 and Halo with Sean-Neil-Mizzy.
Today I watched the newest Dr Who episode, then finished the Bleach episodes I have. Did some cleaning, then wrote another chapter of the Carlita story using the very brief notes Sean gave me.
Couple of calls, so I have four tomorrow, the one at 5:30 at the last minute tonight, only because she's not free the rest of the week. Oh well.
