2011-04-20:
As we morn the passing of Elisabeth Sladen, who died yesterday at the age of 63. If only there was some Dr, Who could have saved her. But no, she treks to the stars, one might say, to that undiscovered country, past even Andromeda. Will she cross through a Stargate, or pause upon some distant Dune? But listen to me Babylon, I mean babble on, when all I mean to say is, farewell Sarah Jane Smith, we shall miss you.
Yesterday was rather boring otherwise, work wise. Apart from that I finished all the comics Sean gave me, and got to stupid Ultimecia in FF8. However, her battle methods proved resilient to me, the first time because I couldn't sword her to death as I planned. Perhaps because I had Drain junctioned? I don't know, but I hit for 0, which made me mad. I started pounding her with Magic, but then she called her GF which cast a Doom spell on me. And even though I'm immune to Death spells, it still took me out. I tried like three more times, but the way the battle works, she randomly selects three starting characters so Squall never actually got picked again to fight before the others got wiped out. AARRGG. So I turned that off in disgust. Maybe I'll try again sometime. Right now I want to meta-game through Lunar. It is also curious in that the boss fights go up in difficulty according to Alex's level. So ranging from 50-250 (the first and last boss, respectively) that number is multiplied by Alex's level to get the boss' hit points. This suggests that if Alex never goes up a level, because he is dead the whole game, it would be super easy. We'll see what happens.
Today was pretty busy. Sold my power supply right off, (a 1.6ghz machine, ugh) and answered some questions. Then over to return the laptop I finished working on the night before. (new hard drive arrived in via UPS). A short stop at home, then back out to a nearby place to take out a fake antivirus, took me a half hour, no problem. Then home, and back out at 5:00 to tell someone their machine was dead. Tried a new power supply, processor, RAM, nothing. So it's probably the motherboard. Took her files off and put them on her laptop, and she's getting a new machine.
Started reading Wolfblade but gave it up 60 pages in, it was boring me and they hadn't even gotten past the dance yet. So I switched to Rhapsody by a different author and that's going a bit better. The fourteen year old has, in the first 49 pages: traveled through time, met his soul mate, lost his virginity, and then traveled through time again, losing his love whose fate is now unknown. Now that's a beginning.
Out of eleven calls I made three appointments. Why do people with questions that can be answered in five seconds all call on the same day? Of course the first one took an hour and a half (almost) because for some reason OpenOffice wasn't printing. Of course, she was trying to make labels, so why in heaven's name was she messing around with the envelope template? Wasted half an hour on that before, oh, you want labels? BAKA. Thanks for offering me some money after spending all that time on the phone with you. oh right you didn't.
So I have two for tomorrow, both in the morning, and the second is just setting up a router, big deal. Then two for Friday, along with game over at Sean's. I am unclear on which game, but I'll have them all anyway, so there.
Otherwise, try to keep your spirits up, I'm sure it'll only be raining and snowy and miserable for another week or two or three at the most.
