It's true! When I awoke from my beautiful slumber this morning my first thought of the day was, and I quote, "I think I won't spend six hundred and three dollars today." I did, you can check the logs. But in some kind of ironic twist, that's exactly the amount I spent... on four new tires, after I got a flat. The guy was like, "oh, they don't make these tires anymore" with a scorn in his voice reminiscent of my own scorn for any non Mac computer product produced ever. I, however, feel justified in saying "well, they don't really make that kind of memory anymore" when standing in front of a 12 year old PC. Because computer technology moves on. Car technology does not. My car is not 10,000 times faster then a car from 1965. Or is it 10,000 times safer, nor does it use 10,000 times less fuel. In fact my current car uses about TWICE the fuel my old one did, so in many respects we've gone backwards. But tires? Tires are a chuck of circular rubber with some groves cut in. Their progress is not what I would call a "rapid pace". But nooooo I have to change them all "because it's four wheel drive" and they might not "honor my warranty if something should happen" and the tires aren't all the same. Oh, by the way, did my warranty even cover tires? Nope! Why cover something you're sure is going to give you problems? That would just be silly. So my warranty has done nothing for me, I got to sit for two hours while new tires were put on, and at the end, surprise, it's $90 more then you quoted me because of a "front susp alignment" whatever good that does me. So, it's pretty amazing that I can work all week, and my deposit for that week is not enough to cover four tires and putting them on. Amazing. And here I was, thinking what to spend that money Mom wants to give me for cleaning up Grandma's yard. Whoops, it's already been spent, and a hundred dollars more. Oh, and my old cars, the ones I spent, collectively, ~12 years? driving, I had exactly one flat tire. Now it's only been a year and I've already had one? Ok, sure, they could be the original tires, but still.

 

Well, now that I'm done complaining, how about... some more complaining?

 

So I went to my first one, and was 15 minutes late because of changing my tire mid-way through. Interestingly, my GPS gave a speed with the spare on about 5 miles per hour lower then my speedometer. Odd. Usually it's only a mile or so off. Set up his new machine, transferred the tiny amount of stuff he had, done. 

 

Then over to my 11:30, not sure what her problem was, it didn't really manifest. Whatever.

 

Then over to the car dealer. Finished Hero of Ages, liked it! My 1:30 had canceled, thank goodness, so I didn't have to worry about that one. I didn't make it to my 3:00 though, so that one was moved to tomorrow.

 

Home! A couple of calls received. Ate dinner. Then out to see about a noisy fan that wasn't noisy. I changed it anyway, had to make that $5.00 to help pay for those tires!

 

Home. Calls, booked tomorrow up, but none for saturday. Reminds me, should make sure with Sean we're still on for tomorrow.

 

Started Warbreaker by the same author. Talking sword? And quips things like "well, I'm a sword, you should do what you're good at." after killing anyone but the rightful owner if drawn? Interesting. Oh wait, he's not even the main character? Should be a wild ride, uh, read.
