You know what else makes me *sadface*? Windows. And let me tell you why.
Didn't have any jobs this morning, so as planned I just shopped for ingredients. They sell shredded carrot now. Like I'm too lazy to shred my own carrot. I... I bought shredded carrot. *embarrassed*
My first one went fine, at least the removal part. Just another fake antivirus. What did not make me happy were the six hundred, yes that's 600, or 6x100 "Microsoft 6to4 adapter" I found after trying for about forty minutes to discover why this relatively new Windows7 machine was bogged down, courtesy of the scvhost.exe. It was pretty much using 100% of both processors. You know what uses 100% of my processors? Handbrake. And that's it. And you know what? While using 400% CPU time, my system is still just as responsive as can be. But not good old windows. No sir. So I left her taking them all out, which I'm sure was fun for her, because I was already late to my next one and I was only charging her for an hour.
So the next one went fine. Her "backup" was some weird thing made by, I guess, the HP utility, rather then copying to the flash drive the files, it made a 3GB executable file that sllloooowwwwlllyyyy unpacked a bunch of worthless stuff. Super. Left that running as there was no way I was going to sit there the hours it was going to take. Honestly, what are these companies thinking?
Came home, finished the last episode of Next Generation, "The trial never ended". -Q
Then out once again, to take files off the Mac of a deceased, and try to close his accounts. Of course no passwords are known and they weren't saved in cookies either.
PROTIP: Make a list of all passwords, accounts, instructions, final messages in the event you die. It will be much, much easier on those you leave behind. Unless you're the kind that wants to leave them a final little puzzle to solve when you're gone. Leave this in a secure place it will be found after your journey to the "undiscovered country". Do it, do it NOW.
mine was made years ago, but does need updating I guess, it's been awhile. So there. Because unlike some, I'm the kind that thinks ahead, even to the bitter, bitter end.
Of course, there are some that say I will never die, only become less and less probable, but that's a whole discussion for a quantum theorist, a proponent of string theory, and Isaac Newton walk into a bar... stop me if you've heard this one.
Then back here. Helped people over the phone, no new appointments. I do get to get up at 7:15 tomorrow, to do a job at 8:15 which will take me 5 seconds. All because a woman can't find the battery in her battery backed up time warner cable modem. I hate my job. Then later at 2:00 an ATI driver issue? Then to go pick up my 10.6 I used to update the Macbook, Grandma, and then home. I was going the make the salad in the morning, but now I'll wait until Saturday. So I'm not sure what I'll do in-between.
No xbox for awhile with "the crew" as Neil's Xbox gave the pretty, pretty, red ring of demise of the xbox. So that's my Xbox, Sean's Xbox, and now Neil's Xbox have all broken at one time or another. But I bet all our original NES systems would still work if we plugged them in. Tells you something, no? Happened just as we started Last Planet 2 last time. Microsoft, the new name for "quality".
