That sound you make in your secret heart of hearts when your Pokemon gets in a critical hit and wins you the badge rather then missing and costing you money? Sure, happens to everyone right? That's the sound I made today after my taxes were finished.
Thanks to buying the car and "depreciating" it, which is a fib we tell the government that says we write off the whole value of the car even though it's still worth a lot more, my entire tax burden for 2010 was wiped out. As in, not only did I overpay by a lot, they basically paid my social security tax for me through credits because I then earned so little. Thanks guys! So I get to take back what I've set aside for 3 months already this year and not put any more in. For both federal and state. Sweet. Of course I'll keep careful track of the 20% I would have taken out, so that if it does reach a higher amount then I overpaid I'll take some up, but I don't think it'll be much. So I'm not as bad off as I imagined.
Then I had a yummy dinner!
Did a bunch of work Friday and Saturday, calls kept coming in so I kept going out. I gave Lou his switchbox and got the money he owed me, got a lady on wireless with her laptop and got rid of the weird CA anti-virus that was just going nuts on her desktop machine. Got the panel in very smoothly, only took about a half hour to do the whole job, certainly wish they were all that easy. The printer lady was a bust, she had an epson (strike one) that would not do anything, and the status lights had two different meanings, and she only had bought a color cartridge. So I went and got her a black, but even then it just spat out blank pages. So I saw there were two screws there and disassembled the ink thing, and soaked it in some hot water to clean it. Still, nothing came out. Sigh. Hate inkjet printers! She spent almost $40 on the black, probably that much on the color, my time, she could have just bought a new printer.
That's a rant too, by the way. Why do we need eight zillion different ink carriages? Especially with a company like epson where the heads are not removable. We can't just have a universally shaped tank for the ink to sit in? Printers are not radically different shapes, and they perform the same function. But we have to design a new kind of tank for every printer? Doesn't make sense to me.
And played some war for cybertron and Lost Planet 2 with Neil and Sean at the end 'o the day.
All in all a busy weekend.
Getting the car inspected tomorrow, hope that goes well. And by well I mean swiftly. I should be covered under warranty if anything's wrong. I paid enough for it. Then shopping, I have two possible jobs depending on when that morning stuff gets done. One just installing some RAM in a G5 (I was lucky to find two chips floating around my RAM box he could use) and over to York Furniture, as apparently they are having issues with their stupid server thing. Stupid server thing! Why do you even exist?
Then one each for the next two days after that. And I didn't reach all people who called me, so there's more work to be had there, so it looks like things are picking up a little, maybe?
Mizzy is back safe, so that's good, though I haven't spoken to her to see how her trip was. And of course did the clock thing, for whatever reason, so if you didn't, you're going to be late. 50s by mid week? Why, I'll take it sir!
Tried installing the slightly older version of the phone software, it gave me some crap about how it couldn't finish copying the install image to the drive, I might be out of disk space. Yeah, on a 160GB hard drive, right. So not sure what that's all about. There are other distributions of the software, I might try another company's take on the situation.
Getting to be mid-march, almost time to take those christmas lights down.
