You know that Liz is going to open her eyes in the next panel, realize John is looking off into space and not asking her if she's wonderful, politely excuse herself and never return, right?

But that would be just his luck.

 

And my luck was to hate windows today! Yay!

 

Also, had a brief power outage this morning, about twenty seconds or so. Odd. 

 

I begin with the crappy RR router I hate so much. They've got him set up with some stupid 28 digit password and I'm like, "oh no you didn't." WEP? That can be broken in like, thirty seconds, or something. But oh look, you changed the SSID to airnet and it's broken. I was so overcome with joy I nearly wept. But I finally got him a sane password, even if his network is still named bb20 or whatever because that makes so much sense. And of course he had a half dozen things downloaded that would have messed his machine up. Luckily, I don't think he's smart enough to realize how to actually install them, as he had 6 copies of things but it had never been installed. So thank goodness for that. 

 

Then to tablet lady. Why do android tablets show the weather widget thing on the home screen and not, you know, your apps? The thing you actually want to use? Whatever, it got set up.

 

Then to a guy who couldn't get on the internet. Well, neither could I with my miniBook but he had another frontier DSL box so we tried that and it worked. Everything was set and he started asking about music. "I can give you iTunes." I said, confident I would be on my way in moments. An hour later I was still there, because windows sucks the big one! Here's the thing, the Microsoft Windows  Visual C++... thing installing on a Microsoft Windows operating system- fails. Great job guys! First, why do I need to download crap to run certain programs (I'm looking at you, .NET) and second, both things were written by Mikysoft. So shouldn't they, I don't know, work together? Without crashing? Or giving strange error messages. You know what most everyone said in posts about this problem installing various things (iTunes, Adobe Stuff, others) "Yeah, I reloaded windows".

 

Your solution was to nuke the site from orbit? Because of one little library thingy? That I don't even know what it does? This is... acceptable to you people? Really?

 

Hate. Windows.

 

Then to another cleanout. She was like, "I think my Mac has a virus" and I was like "as if". Turns out both her PCs were pretty well mangled (thanks, AVG) and somehow her Linksys router DNS servers were changed! weeeird. Really weird. So that was redirecting her on every machine connected to that network. Nicely played, virus writer, nicely played. Am I going to have to start checking routers for malicious code now too? She joked "pretty soon the lights will be flashing on and off." I laughed, but really, I would love to redo my house with X10 stuff,  and if I built a house I would totally put every wall plug, switch, etc into it. (Why is that stuff still so crazy expensive though? It's been around since 1970s!!) I could see in the future homes being equipped with automation like that and getting infected. Hummm.

 

Anyway, got her cleaned out (her computers cleaned out) and came back here. Ate dinner.  Only one call? Well. Though I did get one more just now, so I have four tomorrow. My first one, naturally, being the farthest away, in Victor, a half hour out. At least it might be a bit warmer. 

 

Right now I'm going to make some more labels, and play New Vegas. 100 science skill my butt. Why can't I just say "no, I refuse to destroy the Brotherhood of Steel installation and be done with it? I don't want to do it, but the game forces me to or it never advances the plot. Maybe that's the point. If I can keep the battle for Hoover Dam at bay by not self destructing a reactor, don't you think I have a moral obligation to do so? Silly Fallout, I'm not so sure I like you as much anymore.
