It was quite an adventure driving home this morning, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
Saturday was quite busy. My morning one took a bit longer then I expected thanks to a crappy Time Warner router. You know, that one where if you change the SSID of the wireless, it just turns the wireless off for no reason? Yeah, that one. The laptop on the second floor seemed fine, but the one on the first floor had just about zero signal and kept dropping the connection. It persisted even after I brought the laptop to the basement and set it next to the so called router. Then I replaced so called router and it was fine again. Just made it to the second one.
I later found out he had called me saying we had an appointment for 10:30. No, no we did not sir, it was for 11:30. Sorry, can't help your misunderstanding english. Total n00b, and doubly worse an oldster n00b. I don't think she even used a typewriter growing up, she didn't know how to make a space between words. This is the sort of person who would be best served by an iPad, really. That appointment moved slowly, let me tell you.
Then to Dr. Jay, with his silly AOL printing problem. AOL must use the IE printing path, which is of course different then any other program on the system, because that's the microsoft way. I did discover that the 64bit version of IE printed just fine, it was just the 32bit version that didn't. *rollseyes*
Then over to deliver the tower and get my money for the HD I bought last year. Finally.
When I was at Dr. Jay's Sean called, did I want to watch Narnia and maybe play Army of Two. This was acceptable, so I went over there. First I helped him paint a bit because I'm a nice guy and he promised me pizza. Which I received, thus was our contract fulfilled. The Narnia movies were pretty good. I didn't realize how quickly that whole thing took place- Go to Narnia. Get drafted into war. Win war. In what seemed like two days! And I didn't realize just how young Lucy was. With her cute little... dagger.
Then one stage of Army of Two. I left there at 2:00 and almost immediately regretted it. It didn't seem so bad, but once on the road, visibility was near zero and the high beams just threw light back in my face. Roads were terrible, I crawled home at an average speed of 35mph. At least there were very few other cars to worry about.
Slept until almost twelve when mom called. I turned my alarm off thinking I'd probably wake up naturally about eleven anyway, guess I needed more sleep then that. She wanted to know if I got the lamp working. Send me an email! Just kiddin, love you mom!
So I got up. Ate "lunch". In no particular order today I:
Measured the wall where my projector now sits to see how big a screen I could put there, if I decide to. Saw what prices screens went for. Around $100 at that size? Doable!
Moved the whole thing over a little more so it's not at an angle. And moved it off the old G4 case Sean gave me, that was just too... not flat. Found something flat to set it on so the big head of the person in the middle isn't in the way.
Finished Over a Torrent Sea a Titan novel.
Bit of cleaning.
Realized I had no way of getting movies from my computer through the projector! How did I miss that one? Looked into really long VGA cable.
Worked on the United States of Voyager video.
Had fish salad for dinner.
Made tons of phone calls.
What, you wanted more? I've only been up eleven hours today. *grin*
Only three places to go tomorrow, even with all those calls I got. Was on the phone solid from 7:30-9:00 talking people through stuff. I'm so nice.
One place just wants a crappy old tape transferred to CD.
The one job is for the radison, a really slow machine?
The other is the Walker's machine, still having problems. Sigh.
So with the shopping, and that, I should still be home by 1:30. Taking a large delivery tomorrow, very hush-hush, which should finish the living room reorg. Then I have some stuff to sell, ebay time! So I'll probably do that tomorrow too.
