2010-11-29:
Oh yeah, Thankstaking right? I had a pretty good Thankstaking weekend, and I hope you did too.
We went up to see the grandmother person, who has a better looking face. Still a pretty large bump however. I say amputate. Then we came back and had some lunch, then went to work getting christmas decorations down. Dad surprised himself by blowing out the LED bulb fuses by trying to hook them into a string of regular lights. Guess he found out that wouldn't work after all. Otherwise quite uneventful, though he didn't find a large bag of stuffed animals we thought we should. Then, turkey time! Heather brought James over, which I guess is fine, being her husband and all. Kind of unfair to me, though, after all, I don't get asked to bring my wife along now-
oh. right. Moving on.
Friday I was told I could come and help paint walls at my grandmother's house. I agreed. I dropped off said laptop (I said something about this last entry or so) and then did one other quick job.
When I arrived at my post, everyone was all like "look what we found under the kitchen carpet!" Four more layers of stuff to take off! Yea! So in all we did no painting at all.
Then saturday it was all Sean saying the day he got back, "I don't think we'll need help with the move." and then later "Yeah, I think we're going to need help with the move." Fine! So I got there a little after 12:00, and Sean got the truck at 2:00, so we started bringing stuff out of the house to the driveway. He was all like, "we just need to move this-this-this" and we were all like, "but what about this huge thing" "and that huge thing?" and he was all like, "duh". So we filled the truck completely, then drove that over the house, emptied it, then came back for the bikes, ladder, 8ft whiteboard, plant, bird. Drove back to the house, then to Crab Shack where I had a lovely piece of fish and chips I might have enjoyed more had I not been so stuffed up. AARG. So we then drove all the back to the new house, unloaded stuff, took truck back, and I agreed to help put his bed together at least so they could sleep... that morning. I left about 1:30AM. I'm such a good friend. At least he paid for dinner.
Then Sunday, in which I slept about 10 hours in an attempt to shake my cough and nose thing. As I recall I spent most of the day under a blanket playing Fallout 3 New Vegas. I didn't get too many calls, which I thought I would, it then being after Thankstaking, but whatever, I guess.
Then today! Sean gave me Halo books to read and a Transformers comic so no Library. Did get oil change stuff though. Also that net of LED lights I was missing (finally doesn't look lopsided, thank you) and some cat food. Actually a lot, he was low on both his crunchy foods so I got a whole case plus two bags of crunchy. He can eat like a king for a month!
Got home, put my net up, then left for my 10 minute job. The guy just could not explain what he was seeing, but if he had simply said "if I try to open a PDF file it opens in Firefox instead." I would have solved his problem over the phone. But no. Ugh, spare me, please.
Without further money making opportunities, I instead spent money, (cyber monday for the win?) though one gift I wanted for Mom was listed as "unavailable" so thanks guys. I found a replacement, which was not as cool, but you take what you can get. Hereby imbued with The Spirit I got out my decorations and tree. Someone wasted no time climbing it.

And that was fun for five minutes, and now we're ignoring it. At least so far. Further impelled by The Spirit I finally wrapped up Sean's gift, the box cutting worked perfectly. I am still undecided about Mizzy's. I liked how the clay version looked better then the "improved" wire and sculpty version. It's the same problem I had drawing. I have trouble visualizing that the bone is in the CENTER of the thing, not at the edge, so he looks a little funny. Do I leave him, and try again, or bake him, and press on with the painting? It didn't take me long, and I can always rip one up, so maybe I will try again. I liked working with the sculpty much better then the clay though, much, much better. It's almost too soft, really.
Got a couple of calls today, including my Bestist Buddy Bruce! Oh, Bruce, how I've missed your rambling stories that can only be lies, for forty or so minutes. How unlike being jabbed in the ear with an icepick is the sound of your voice. He's still just a couple of months away from getting that computer, you go Bruce, take that world on in the way only you can.
So only one again tomorrow, but it'll be a two hour job at least. He wants his laptop upgraded to Win7 from Vista because he "doesn't like Vista" but apparently doesn't know that Win7 is just Vista... tweaked a little bit. Whatever. And another machine cleaned out. So at least I'll have something to do while it installs. I have to go pick up the upgrade in the morning, so I made the appointment for the afternoon.
Suzanne, the girl from the Philippines, continues to write me, so that's nice.
Guess that brings us all up to speed, let's get Tuesday done and get into December already! I'm looking forward to some snow, because I love* being cold, and cursing out the icy roads, and scraping, and plowing, and shoveling, and all of it! Bring it ON!**
