Another tirade about the injustices of the universe perhaps? Another sordid tale made up of woe and verisimilitude to garner pity? 

 

Now if someone can just tell me what those last two sentences meant? Where did I even learn these words anyway?

 

That was some storm today, yes? Hail, winds, rain and lighting all at once? Oh Lord of Storms, what have we done to displease you?

 

Anyway, shopping went fine, turned my nickels in, which I forgot last week, and still managed to forget my 10 empty ink cartridges, again, from last week. Oh well, three more weeks to remember.

 

Hooking the system up went fine, took only a few minutes, did have to reload the printer, but I managed to find the disk so that was okay.

 

Then over to set up the router, which took about two minutes. That was when the storm started.

 

It was indeed the last one that caused such gnashing of teeth of rising of bile and vitriol towards all things PC. When I arrived she said it was working better, that before the keyboard wasn't working or something. But that darn Amicus Attorney was taking for-freaking-ever to come up. When I launched it, the CPU meter said one thing, but the process list added up to another! Numbers should make SENSE, yes? So I used processes explorer and came up with the "dpc" or deferred procedure calls using 30-50% of the CPU. Now, interrupts using a ton of CPU time I've seen, that usually means the HD has gone into PIO mode because we are all sinners need Jesus in our... *shove* Sorry, don't know how he got in here. Anyway, PIO mode randomly because XP sucks. But that was the first time I've seen DPC using. As it was only that high while opening Amicus, I figured maybe something with the network? (it gets data from a central location) So I reloaded the drivers (last update, 2003) I tried another wireless card. (from 2004) Tried a brand new USB wireless adapter. Tried moving the card to another slot. Tried making a 40" cable and plugging it in. Didn't help. Still massive CPU usage when opening. Maybe this is the way Amicus works? I have no clue. Finally, let it run for 9 minutes and it "rebuilt the local database" and it opened. Still can offer no solution or suggestions as to their original problem or this weird delay in opening a pretty simple distributed calendar/contacts program. So THREE HOURS later I finally got to go home. At least I got to sit next to a cute girl.

 

Ate dinner, only made two appointments for tomorrow. Though limo guy wants me to remake his website, so I'll have that to do, too.
