2010-06-30:
Got a bit more done then I planned, as the UPS person came at about 12:00 and delivered the hard drive the hotel needed.
Took me half an hour to get it to be recognized and usable, because PC equipment is just SO GOOD.
Anyway, the morning one went fine, just answered some questions, freed up some space (40 GB hd? Ugh) and that was that. Came home for lunch, took package.
Got the system done just before I needed to leave to see Ellen, as they were close by I wanted to make one trip not two. Which I was able to do.
Got ellen all squared away again, honestly, you don't need to keep 10,000 old emails, do you? There's a delete button, try it out.
However when I got to the hotel, my contact had apparently quit or been fired or whatnot. So then it was a game of "how do I get paid?" But finally they figured out the right forms, or number or what have you, and I got the check signed so I got my money. Weird, didn't have any indication she was having problems, I was just there Friday.
Buttload of calls today. Booked two for tomorrow thus far. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. And one for the 5th at 10:30. Sigh.
Read a story about (another) person taking pictures IN PUBLIC
getting harassed by cops, one response to such was this by Charles Ellis:
"As an ex serviceman who was regularly part of public parades and would be fully expected to be photographed by journalists and members of public alike. Taking photographs does not in anyway constitute a risk to security or a possible act of terrorism. What does constitute a risk to security is when a number of police officers who should be be looking out for suspicious items and known targets appear to be all concentrating on trying to bully a photographer.. The police escalated this incident from what appears to be their inability to back down and lack of knowledge of the law. The use of anti terrorism legislation in this case was a disgrace for which they should be ashamed of and I hope an enquiry is held into this matter."
What a fantastic way to perpetrate a crime! Your decoy starts taking pictures and gets hassled by the cops. While the cops are busy inventing laws to throw their power around, you merrily commit the crime knowing full well their attention is elsewhere and thus, you are in the clear! Brilliant!
Got a couple of levels last night in Borderlands thanks to Mizzy, she's ahead of me in the game so she took me to a better area. I was getting slaughtered left and further left, but I did get a ton of XP, so thanks Mizzy, I'm that much closer to the gooooooooooal. Two levels raised where on my own it was a level a night. Seesh. And she gave me a sniper rifle that shoots bullets made of fire which is a mixed blessing because if you don't hit the head exactly, and they catch on fire, it's harder to know where the head is for the next shot. I guess that's why ninjas can't catch you if you're on fire. But back in my own game it'll be a blessing, as it's way more powerful too. Also picked up a better shield. Woot!
Woot is getting bought by Amazon? Why? What possible use does Amazon have for a company that sells one product a day? And if, as in their letter, nothing is going to change, what's the point? Couldn't Amazon offer a bizarre item a day on its own, rather then buy someone else? It just doesn't make what I would call sense.
But then, what does?
