In every way possible, I might add.
And today seemed to be a pretty good one too, I guess, amongst all possible values of "days". The first of two appointments went fine. I found some components I thought belonged to a program called "covenant eyes" from a system a couple of days ago, but they turned out to be virus files. Malwarebytes removed them. Interesting. Along with some other stuff, the machine I thought was fine. I leave. I am early for my second of two appointments, but not early enough to go home, so I head over there and wait. I play Blue Dragon. A white van pulls up, apparently he wants her too. She is not there. I have now waited 45 minutes and it's after twelve so I decide to go home and have lunch.
This, I do.
A check my daily websites, etc. and call her back. The aid is there (don't ask) to let me in. The problem is she can't log in to her FTP site. I figure it's just a password or something, but no. I try logging into MY ftp site from her place, both with her machine and with ChibiMac Black and I get "incorrect password". It talks to the FTP server. It knows it's there. But it WON'T. Log. In. I talk to powweb. I try various things. Finally in frustration I take the files home and lo and behold, I log in fine from here. It can't be her computer, if it was the firewall or something I wouldn't reach the FTP server. I obviously know the password, because it worked here. So WHY doesn't it work there? It makes no sense.
So I eat dinner, having wasted the entire afternoon, (no $$$ after all) and make phone calls. Which never stop. Apparently, taking the viruses out of the morning machine has now caused it do pop up this weird "just in time" debugger all the time. I lead him through a bunch of stuff, but to no avail. So I get to go back tomorrow, for free, and try a "repair" on XP. Though I did find a few other tips I'll try first.
Then there was "sound and mouse stutter" guy, another stupid microsoft problem. At random the machine will start to act like the mouse is stuttering, and any audio they play breaks up something terrible. The CPU is not straining. They have 6GB of RAM (which should be enough for anybody) so it's not like their machine is hurting for power. So I found a page exactly detailing the problem, with two solutions, one in two parts. Solution 2 (the easier one) is already turned off, so it's not that. Solution 1 part 1 works fine. But part two makes the machine BSOD. Oh, how I love you mickey (soft) ! So if part 1 of solution 1 doesn't work, I have no clue where to go, I found no other forums that mentioned these exact symptoms.
And then there's my buddy Bruce The Liar, going on about how he only gets so much money a month (wish I could just be handed cash every month for doing nothing, go The System!) and he can't even afford $30 for a printer power cable to get a printer I've got working, and how this lady in the elevator was grabbing his mail, and how he's trying to move (again) and whining about what kind of system he can get. He's the guy I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. I've written about him before. If I didn't believe in forgiveness I would wish him a violent death with sharp thing through the brain, but I do, so, Bruce, you're one of the most annoying people I've ever met, and I hate you terribly, but I forgive you for being who you are.
