Across the world unseen, their weight, that of the half remembered perfume worn by the love you lost so many years ago. Silent, they make their way across the shadow filled rooms so frequented by our sorrow, the rooms of our minds, which none can truly know. For who can know the inner chambers of their mind? Rooms unused, full of dreams, stuffed to bursting with nostalgia, or laid bare with but a single rose petal. Ah ghosts, how effortlessly you slide through the maze at random, searching for that yellow gobbler- wait, what?

Right, looking pretty good now, eh? I'm almost to the point where I was before. There's no hit detection between the hero and the ghosts, but when the maze is done a new one springs into existence, and the ghosts move about and don't seem to get (too) stuck in any one place. I'm quite pleased.
It's an interesting commentary, actually. In the original game, the ghosts did go out of their way to chase down the hero and stop him from consuming their crop of power dots. Why ghosts would care is a question, as they never seem to eat said dots, but there you have it. In my recreation, they wonder quite without purpose, the only danger to the hero being that if he plows into one, it's over for him. Neither side is to blame, there is no "good" or "evil", just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Very much like life, I guess. I am not sure if I will implement some sort of looking ahead behavior to try and steer him away from destruction. Probably in the same vein of making him smarter, such would be the thing to do. One thing at a time. They are there now, they move, now to build their reaction. I don't think I'll ever make them track him, that would be a lot of work for one, and pretty mean for a screensaver.
Other tasks over the last two days were trying to make money by performing computer related tasks and Batman. Still quite slow I fear, only the one today in the morning, just getting the guy a bit straightened out. I have two for tomorrow, so that's good. Batman I have almost finished the main quest. There's still a bunch of the Riddler's stuff to find around the island, but plenty of time for that.
No Sean this week, he's off to VA "for nostalgia's sake", whatever that means. These words, why do they swirl about and confuse me?
Been thinking about how to best (re)implement the character sheet generator I worked on a year or so ago. It never went anywhere because I was basically finished with it, then we switched the character sheets all around, then it stopped saving probably due to some SQL change on the part of my provider I didn't know about. I was never happy with it, it looked different on different browsers, it was all messed up on IE, it was hard to work with or add new stuff (Like there's at least 4 different sheets, main rules, demon gate high, perfect horizon, IV, Lucid, darkbolt, okay, more like 6. They are all basically the same but I would have to add more stuff to it so those different sheets could be displayed. Doing it as an iPad app would be difficult, and I don't have any hardware to test on. Doing it just for the Mac would be kind of easy, I think, but limiting of the audience. I even looked into
google wave, but I don't think that's appropriate either. (Looks kind of neat though, but I can see why it's taken them two years to do all that with just HTML5.) Oh well, we'll see.
I looked into other character generators on the web to perhaps inspire me, and all I found was crappy implementations that resembled character sheets not at all, but were just thrown together bits of HTML like a survey for a faceless marketing company. My implementation, such as it was, at least resembled as closely as possible the actual character sheet one could hold in ones hand, and printing it generated a quite usable copy indeed. These I found were just, blah. And I wanted to build a database of them, so people could put their own characters in and find ones others had done in case they just needed an NPC. None of that here. I suppose I could simplify it thus, but really, should it be this hard?
