2010-03-14:
Friday got started an hour late. I set my alarm for 7:00, or so I thought, but when I awoke it was 8:00. Must have hit the button one too many times. So I rushed over to the dealership to get my car in the queue. This hour of lateness worked out in my favor as you will read in just a moment. I got a bit of rather large news regarding chibi-kuruma, at that time, namely, he didn't pass. He had a sheet full of figures but the largest problem was the frame, which was rusted through in place, and thus, likely to start failing in other places too. I had hoped to at least get a couple more months out of him, but with only two weeks to go before my sticker expired, I had to do something.
There are several car dealerships right there, so I was wondering around and this saleman comes up and does the usual "what can I help you find" thingy. Well, I explain I want to replace a Geo Metro but he doesn't have anything remotely like that, so I go back to the waiting room. A couple of minutes later he comes back and says he just got a trade in, would I like to come out and see it. It's this 04 Subaru :

Which is not exactly what I had in mind. For one it's a 4 door and I wanted a 2 door. It's automatic, I wanted a standard. But it's very low milage for the year, and apparently it's a very reliable car. It also has more room in the back, so all my stuff doesn't have to be shoved in there like it is now. Also looking it up yields very good reviews and it drove well. And the price they want for it seems to be much lower then they might otherwise have asked. (Still $3000 more then my second car). So that took the morning.
I then went to one place to install her new router. She also had two laptops, one with an expired Norton and the other with nothing. So I got them a bit more protected.
Over to Mom's to discuss the car. Then to grandma's. Called to see if the person out by the co-op was around, they were not. So I dropped off the power cable and went to sean's. He wasn't there. So I started cleaning my car out and putting stuff into bags to make it easier to carry. Found some drinks I didn't remember I had, and a bunch of other crap under the seats.
We then went out to eat, because Neil was visiting. Then we go back to game. The final battle begins between Lucifer, Samael, Metatron, and we, the brave defenders of earth. Of course he had to set the stage at the vatican, rather then the school, so our backup consists of whatever first year students are there on the "field trip" with us. In other words: none. Still, I think we'll come out victorious.
Next up was Saturday. Got up, cleaned out my car, rearranged the garage to fit the longer car into it, went down to the dealer- "when would you like to pick it up?" Uh, now, please? No. It won't be "ready" until monday. *sigh*. I was going to call the lady I missed friday, but then I would have had to put everything back in the car, and it was my birthday and all, so I said forget it. I played Dead Space for a little bit, worked more on the new site, and went at 4:00 to put Louie's CD-RW in. Got that done just at 5:00 to get to Mom's, but she had told Heather we would be to the restaurant by 5:00, whoops. I misunderstood.
I got yummy food, thank you Heather, and the plastic mat I wanted for my chair which looks nice. And money to help pay for a car. When I got home I had a surprise gift left by Sean!

Yup, it's a cell phone! I guess I've joined the ranks of you hippy cell phone wielding visigoths after all. He's actually been saying, for years, and I really do mean years, that he was going to add me to his plan, which is like only another $10 a month. Guess he finally did it. He was watching a movie on xbox so I mailed him to thank him and make sure it was still $10 a month. He said it was "$0 a month for me" but I didn't want to disturb what he was watching so I just dropped it, I'll bug him more about it later. I hate him so much now. I love it infinitely, and now I must get him something equally perfect for his birthday. I feel so obligated. Like I gotta kill him!
Yes, that was a Bob the Angry Flower comic. Because Bob is life, and life is Bob.
The camera on it is useless, of course. There seems to be no way to transfer the pictures via usb or bluetooth, so what's the point? Oh, I can email them to myself? Uh, no. I'm sure that costs, and I'm not going to abuse it like that. Oh well. I did take a picture of Squeaker and set it to be the little picture when you shut it, so I guess that's something.
Next up was today. Got up, was doing some stuff, and noticed the time on my computer. "That's odd" I thought. "I didn't think it was that- ohhhhhhh" I had forgotten about the Great Clock Movement Thing. So I took care of that. Still managed to get a great deal done today. Went to Mom's to walk the pup. Cleaned out a laptop for a lady I promised would be done by monday. While moving stuff around in the garage I emptied a metal rack. One of the things I got for my birthday was another plush Pac Man figure, making my collection of stuffed Pac Man figures the greatest in the known world.

This information is of importance because I rearranged that shelf to look like that today. Then Brain said to me "You know, that area in the Collection Room is pretty stuffed, isn't it?"
I was compelled to agree. "And you have that new rack..." he trailed off. I got the hint and moved the stack of empty PC cases down under the worktable (after throwing my old Superstore invoices in a box to be recycled at long last) and put the rack in the room.

I then proceeded to fill said rack with things from the lower shelves of the other one.

And it was good. Now you can actually see my robot collection!
Ate dinner. 12 phone calls to answer, so I got that done. Picking up the new car tomorrow at 12:00. I wanted to do it first thing, like 9:30, then use it to go shopping so I didn't have to make two trips, but he said the earliest was 11:00. So I figure I'll do the shopping first, then come home, then go back out there. Oh well, glad I put that 3 gallons of gas in friday, it's paying off.
Bye chibi-kuruma.You were only my second car, but you were the best.

The lady said she had named the car Emily, but doesn't a new owner mean a new name, too? I was thinking oneesan-kuruma, which means "big sister car. And it is Japanese, after all... I'm sure something will suggest itself to me, just like chibi-kuruma (small car) did. Inventive, I know.
I have three for tomorrow, one at 7:30 I think will be quick. At least it should still be a bit light out now, right? Weather reports predict almost 60 by friday, let's hope so. One week from today is when I got Squeaker one year ago, and get to do my taxes with Mom! So fun.
I'll let you know how the new car performs tomorrow!
