And back to a normal call volume as well. Huh. Got to my 9:00, just one fake antivirus thingy to remove. But did all the usual stuff to harden the machine further. Of course, as a PC, my efforts will most likely be in vain, but hey, you can only try, right? Or is there no try, there is only do or do not? Anyway, over to the church. Some weird message about a missing file, but running checkdisk twice seemed to take care of that. Very, very slow, but removing AVG solved much of that problem. Ate lunch in their driveway. Next up, a reel estate business that's still on dial up? Huh? No, that's just wrong. On so many levels. Got their crappy "modem" working again, and then went all the way home to get a monitor for them. Their little 15" was so burned in and dim it... well, it's too horrible to contemplate. So I gave them a nice, flat, sony crt screen for $20 I got for free. Hey, took me 40 minutes of driving! What a difference. I did this so I didn't have to go back later, and I had the time, seeing as the modem thing was crap. Hey, you know how you know you're old? When you worked for someone that had a daughter that was 14, and is now going to collage next year. Hadn't seen her for awhile, and let me just say she won't suffer from a lack of male attention, if you know what I mean. Anyway, they had two wireless routers going, one from frontier and the other belkin. I took the belkin one off and tried to clean off her laptop. Still not sure why it's so slow, but at least I made it better then it was. Then home for a very quick dinner, like, twenty minutes, so I could get to my 6:00. She had the infamous BSOD because of the recent XP update, at least, replacing the file I know now to replace let it boot up again. Malwarebytes wouldn't install. I would install it, but the mbam.exe would disappear. So I found and removed two other hidden dll files being run by winlogin.exe (thank you Mac Micro, who came through admirably) but it was still happening. Her machine was running fine, and spybot would run, so I just let that scanning. I'm sure it'll be fine.
