Go on, I dare you! So my morning one was "won't boot" which of course can mean anything from spirit possession to switching the power strip off by accident. So I get there, and it's a BSOD, one of my favorite, talking about registry "hives" like it was bees making your computer work and not tiny fairies. So I try the standard-substandard repair job, the good old checkdisk. No love. Of course, she's running Pro and it's not giving me a repair option. But look, this machine has three hard drives inside it, and the second one also has windows on it. I switch to booting from that drive, but it too won't work, something about not being able to load the profile. Wonderful. So I figure, eh, what the heck, I'll just let it boot from the third drive and load XP onto that. So now of three hard drives, all loaded with XP, only one actually works. We'll see how long that lasts. Of course she has no sticker, but I knew I had an XP pro license or two hanging around my house, and it let me install without it, so I left the activation window and the VNC window up, to finish remotely. Saw that the hotel had called, so I went over there. Did a couple of things. Went and bought paper, glue and some tweezers (the mystery deepens) and did some things around here. Get a call from the hotel, "oh, you were but I didn't see you." Well, duh, didn't know you needed me too, now did I? No one at the front said you had called me, so how would I have known? Worked on getting the Smashed Mac up and running (it's pitiful, you don't even want to know), did a little reading. Looks like 6 for the next two days, though I think I already have one or two for tomorrow... Oh, and I got the newegg order, so that's another two people I need to see. No rush though, they can wait until next week. Just about to make phone calls. Should be fun, and by fun, I mean, not fun.
