Not! So I did get done moving cables around, and eating lunch, and getting that PC all fixed up. I totally forget what super-important thing I did between like two and three thirty. Oh, wait, no I didn't, I just blocked it out of my mind. It was laptop guy, I called him. VNC kept crashing, but he had installed skype, so luckily that worked and I was able to lead him through getting his CD drive back. Honestly, the machine had a brand new hard drive installed, it didn't last a week before some major malfunction. Isn't windows great! No. So I left for my 4:00. Took care of it, no sweat. When I got home, I had three more calls to make, one of which was "oh, my machine crashed and I have a paper due tomorrow and can you come tonight?" *shakes head* You could have used the Ellen Feis defense and you didn't? Course, that BSOD wouldn't have happened if you had a Mac, now would it? So I eat dinner, make my other calls, and see what's up with her. She's only ten minutes away so I go over there about 7:30. I get her paper off with my live CD and got to work- reloading windows. It was a BSOD error I hadn't seen before. I looked it up, but all I found was info about a very old virus called T.V.Media I had battled in the past, but haven't seen for quite some time. And there was no evidence of this here. Weird. So I tried a few things like chkdsk but in the end, a repair was the way to go. So I have two for tomorrow, I missed one call because I didn't get back until 9:13 or so, maybe I'll call him tomorrow during the day. Then I played Braid. Only through the first "two" levels (as the first is 2 and the second is 3) and I'm liking it so far. Got a bit stuck and realized that everything in the world makes a difference, and then my eyes were opened. Very interesting mechanic, nice visuals and sound, highly recommended. Read about it in Macworld, but ironically saw it was available for xbox live arcade, so got that version instead with some of the points I got for xmas. Thanks Mom! Who wants to play it on my piddly 17" iMac with a keyboard when I can play it across my entire living room wall, in HD, with a controller? HA! It is to laugh. L4D2 is planned for tomorrow. Then Saturday for Sean's, more Demongate High. And the plan for the rest of Wednesday, that is, another 6 minutes? BEDTIME! But I'll leave you with this image. You know what will help your computer work better? PLUG THE DARN THING IN!
