But at least I didn't have far to go in the snow and the dark. So first was a standard clean out, and it was okay out which was nice. Not unlike the horor that was to come! But we'll get to that. Once again a system with too little ram to actually do anything properly, and some strange error messages to take care of. Nothing too bad. Next up finishing up the install of that weird profiling software (or whatever it was). Luckily, the support person knew exactly, and I mean exactly what to try to solve it. And it was an actual red blooded USA citizen too. Amazing. I guess they see a lot of that kind of problem, and I bet it was a joy for him to speak to someone who didn't need any hand holding on downloading stuff. Slight wireless problem there, too, he had some weird "bridging" thing active, which was making it not work, but once I found that it was fine. Over to fairport to hook a wireless printer to a laptop, and find out why the other machine was sort of stuck not printing. I somehow got it to print, so everything was fine. Then over to their shop to take care of a few things, which went fine as well. Then I got to come home, it was about 3:00. Only had one call again. When it started getting dark it also started snowing, which was a problem because I had to go about again. Now thank goodness it was basically across the street, it was coming down pretty hard. Cleaned the car off and went over there. It was an iMac I didn't think I would be able to save, actually. It was doing odd things that the solution to the problem wouldn't normally have seemed to address. But after figuring out the last model iMac G5 wouldn't be opened like the previous models could, I took a chance and just ran disk warrior on it. That brought it back! The drive back home was equally stimulating as there was more darkness, and more snow. But I got a bit more work on Mizzy's gift done, had gotten another phone call, so I now have four tomorrow and a full day Friday. Seesh. Got ready for tomorrow, I think I'll go to bed a bit early, I may need to snowblow the driveway to get out tomorrow. Though it does seem like it stopped, for now. And crap, Squeaker caught a mouse and it's now pinned under the entertainment center.
