How does one go from eight calls to one in one day? So no hanging out at home today, went in to Bert's place I thought to upgrade three machines to 7. But it turned out to only be one, the other two held off. That went fine, about as I expected. I also was upgrading their quickbooks to 2010. They had a problem with Vista but it went super smooth on the 7 machine. Only trouble was his machine, and trying to upgrade IT to quickbooks. First it failed trying to install dotnet 3.5, some crap about 2.0a not being there. So I found a tool that wiped every trace of dotnet off the machine, reloaded 2.0 and then 3.5. (they co-exist, they don't replace each other). So now it doesn't fail, it just creeps along, along, along with the "installing 3.5" bit. The progress indicator gets to the end, I think, finally, but then it goes back to the beginning again! What? By that time I had to leave, so I'll have to go back, get it going again, and then call intuit and say "here's what it's doing, what should I do now?" My 1:00 was just setting up a new laptop. Moving the address book, installing the printer, no big deal. Then over to the Outreach center. I thought maybe there was some problem with a machine he was bringing in, but no, it was just to get all the machines on the wireless network. Easy. Which let me get over to the mortgage place early, which was just to take out some fake anti-virus programs and actually give him a modern anti-virus package, as his had been updated last in 1999. Lucky guy to not have been totally p0wnd before now! Got home, checked my websites. Ate dinner. Just at 7:00 I got another call, but it was just someone from yesterday who doesn't know the difference between downloading a program and installing said program. Booked 6:30 (ugg) tomorrow, but it's right across the street. A Mac with what seems like a hardware problem of some kind. It was dropping her into Open Firmware, never a good sign. Sean wanted to play L4D2 yesterday but no luck as I was on the phone until 10:00. I'm going to get ready for tomorrow now so I can do so tonight!
