2009-11-15:
Thankfully they warned me about the first five minutes. Otherwise it would have been, "Okay, Up, happy movie! Funny, happy! Wait a second, this is not a happy movie!" *bawls* But warned is prepared so I didn't cry too much. Anyway, Saturday, right? Right. Got up early(ish, for a Saturday) and did some cleaning, figured out what desert I wanted to make for the feast at Sean's later. Got to help a guy with an eMac, ugh, but did sell him a 256MB chip I had. Then I went over to the hotel to give them the sheets with the three printer specs/prices and said, "either order two of one of these, or give me money because I can't tie up $1000 to buy you two printers". But the person in charge of the decision wasn't there, and thus, no progress was made. Back down the street to a lady who basically needed the Avast! registration number pasted into Avast!. The whole area is saturated with wireless via frontier, but she's still using MSN dial up. Great. I didn't have a PCI wireless card so I'm going to get one tomorrow, along with Mizzy's and Sean's xmas present, a router, food and books. Then shall I return to move wireless, for great justice. Went to wegmans to buy brownie mix, a carton of eggs, Death by Chocolate ice cream and syrup. Came back and made the brownies. Had time also to browse my websites, some other unimportant things I can't think of. Then, over to Sean's. Movie night! Got to see Kentucky Fried Movie, Johnny Mnemonic, which is relevant because it's basically Shadowrun. Dinner was ready, courtesy of Stan, which we ate with great gusto. (We did not eat Stan with gusto, we at the food provided by Stan. Oh, you knew that?) The brownie sunday provided by me was also met with enthusiasm. Then we talked about more game stuff, but as I was unable to help Other Sean with his dead HD, he had lost his character information. Also, Stan didn't think we were actually playing that night, so he had nothing. So we just talked a bit. I remembered to look at Sean's room, but he doesn't use a second monitor so what I was going to get him doesn't make sense. Then they left and I got to see Up. In Blue Ray! Squirrel! And Sean loaned me more more stuff and I said to keep the ice cream. Then I came home. Good times. Today I got to finish my grandmother's raking. It's weird, it doesn't seem to have taken me as long this year. In previous years it took me hours and hours, and sometimes Mom would help me out, but either because it was dry, or just the timing or something, it just didn't seem to take me as long. Anyway, got it done, the few that are left won't cause any problem. It was quite cloudy, so I feared rain, but it was pretty warm, and I finished just as it started to get dark, so it worked out fine. I have a few left on my yard, still debating if I should collect them or just leave it. Came back. When I left this morning there was a suspicious looking bag in my driveway which looked like a Sunday paper. I retrieved this bag. Sure enough it contained a paper. Which is odd as I don't receive the paper. Mistake? Who knows? Ate dinner. Thought about something cool for Sean, and found it! Again, not at liberty to say exactly, but let's just say Star Trek has guided me in many ways in my life. There's one episode where Data is trying to help Worf pick out a present for O'Brian and Keiko's wedding. Data tells Worf he should give a gift that "reminds them of him" while he is looking at a picture of a crystal swan. He then turns and says "This does not remind me of you." I don't recall what Worf did give the happy couple in the end, you expect me to remember everything? ANYway, this gift for Sean I've discovered is perfect because it not only requires me to modify something in a cool way, in the end he will use it all the time and it will remind him of me. So there! Had eight phone calls over the weekend, but none today, so got that all taken care of. Booked tomorrow and a random smattering over the next three days as well. Only two weeks until Thanksgiving, wow. And this coming Thursday will be the 7th anniversary of my getting laid off Xerox. Doesn't seem possible. I've been self employed for seven years, how about that? No progress in the dating arena. I've sent a couple of emails, a couple of days apart to make sure they have time to get back to me, but no responses yet. Sigh. On geeksdreamgirl there's a question "I have been on the online dating thing for 3 years now. I’ve been a member of most of the well-known ones… nothing." And that was a girl! You would think girl geeks would have a veritable flood of email. Might have a long haul ahead of me. Oh well, no rush, I have the rest of my life.
