Not sharp like the teeth of you know who, but prickly, as in, bleeding to death from a million scratches and you wonder if these piercing thorns will ever release you. But the good news Squeaker has finally become a lap cat. He's been curled up on my lap for like an hour now, and before this he wouldn't stay still for two minutes. Guess he's starting to feel the cold too. Anyway, about my crappy day. It was crappy. End of story. Oh, you want to hear the story? Do you have a dollar? No? Then I shall never betray my friends! Yeah, so, I go down to this place that does engineering layouts and stuff, they are having trouble with one machine printing. This somehow escalates into every freaking machine in the place because the person/persons who set it up were, and let's be kind to them, morons. They have this curious mix of people with admin access, and without. They have a domain controller, but I have to visit each workstation to mess about with their printer drivers rather then just setting it once on the domain (if that's even possible, and I guess it must be) and pushing it to each workstation. Some printers have the IP directly, some are shared. Some have the wrong IP. Some have the wrong driver. WHAT. A. MESS. THAT. PLACE. WAS. Then some guy's 11x17 stuff is off the page about an inch. Then others can't print 11x17. I thought I would not get out of there. I went in at 9:30 (oh, and the guy was on the phone for a half hour so I got to wait around in the lobby. FUN.) Which reminds me I need to charge my iPod. Did NOT get to eat lunch until I left, which was a half hour before my 4:30. What time would that be? Oh, right. FOUR. I had to eat my emergency rations because I didn't bring a lunch thinking I would only be there an hour or two. HA! So much for the guy who stole "be prepared" as one of his 101 effortless phases. Well, to my credit I did have the rations, which were tasty, so I guess I was prepared after all. The only redeeming part of the experience? That place was packed with cute girls. I mean, really, how do you get that many cute girls doing engineering drawing in autoCAD in one place? It boggles the mind. So I got to my 4:30 just as she was pulling up the driveway herself and took a look at their nasty machine. Another 256RAM jobber, and somehow he had turned off his ethernet port. I mean, honestly Microsoft, why do you even include this feature? Is there really a time when I DON'T want to be using my ethernet port? I don't think so. Very odd wireless situation there. The room that needed the best wireless signal (to get online with a wii) had the crappiest. A room further away got better reception. Stupid EM radiation. So I got home (finally) at 6:00. Ate dinner. Made phone calls. Got to view my websites. Read my email, that sort of thing. Couple for tomorrow, nothing too bad I hope. I need to recover from today. Will probably make a start coloring that comic from yesterday. Then bedtime. For a well deserved sleepy time.
