Really just a bunch of little stuff today, three of the four appointments only took less then a half hour. The morning one was the longest. Installing a slide "scanner" for a guy. Which was basically a camera in a housing that you slid a slide past. Of course, it used 50MB of ram just to open, and of course running it made his mouse all jerky because he didn't have enough USB bandwidth, and, oh, his machine only had 256 of RAM. I tried giving him a brand new 1gb chip, but his machine just started blue screening after that. Great. So he got a pathetic 128 and a promise to order more. Really need to get some 512 chips. Then over to the dentist. No problems! Then three more. One just installing a very old (win95) program onto a desktop, luckily it worked. (It was just a dictionary program of spanish business phrases) She wanted it on her laptop, but her machine lost track of the CD drive, it doesn't show up anymore. And it just now lost the webcam! Time for a new machine. Tried copying the CD to my flash drive and installing it that way, but for a wonder it knew it wasn't being accessed from a CD and wouldn't let me install. Whatever. Another was just replacing a keyboard on a laptop. Took me all of five minutes, but I had to wait until an actual adult got there so I could get paid. Came back home, drew and colored a comic, so I'm right on schedule again. Got some bad news, #7 had a personal tragedy, she won't be dating again any time soon. I wish her the best in this dark time of hers. Then went over to my 5:00, replaced the power supply with the old one. It's a machine that's BSODing, so I replaced the power supply, processor and video card all at once, the BSOD stopped, so now I just have to put each back one at a time to figure out which component is doing it. So that took only a minute. Came home, signed up for two geek dating site accounts and got all my info in. Only three calls today, for a wonder, but stayed on the phone for an hour with a lady, walking her through getting her printer working. Which it did, once, then disappeared again. So we put it back, and it says ready, but doesn't print. Great. Then Sean called to play some ODST, so we finished Neal up in that, and then I wrote this. Three for tomorrow, shouldn't be too bad. I am now going to get ready for bed. Oh, and it was the weather that was nice... then nasty. Very warm and then suddenly cold again. Current Mood: sad about what happened to #7.
