2009-10-04:

For a careless word can destroy a nation, a phrase, topple a mountain. But so too can they heal the heavy heart. What am I going on about now? Bah, who knows! Oh yeah, saturday, of course. Got up, got my house all nice-n-neat for the lady who was coming. An older laptop, she got a good price on it she said. Of course, the genius who last owned it thought it would be the bestist idea in the world to replace the legitimate copy of XP home with a pirate copy of XP pro. *rolls eyes* Um, no. So now of course she can't get security updates, can't use the new antivirus Microsoft is offering free of charge. And of course we can't reload it because she "maybe sent the disk to her sister" for quicken and didn't know where her office CD was. Sigh. So I fixed it up as far as I was able, which actually she was quite pleased about because it seemed to be, at the end, working much better. As I didn't know how it was working before, I could only take her word for it. I didn't charge her the full hour, I don't usually when people come to me. Saves my gas, wear on the car, why not? And if that one person tells five others, that's more business for me. See? Words again. Started work on that system I got the backup drive for. Took forever, seemingly it only had USB 1 ports. Yikes. Put in a USB card I had laying around but it still copied really pathetically, so maybe it was USB 1 as well. Sigh. Got it backed up and reloaded, put most everything on it, just had to put the information back. Went to Seans early to play a little ODST. Michelle gave me the tour, as Sean was supposed to be working on plot for that night, but mostly he just watched us. Slacker. I did my area fight with my Raiju. Now that... was cool. Ewen summons some Ittan Momen to start but as a Raiju I am way, way faster then them so they just kind of float around in awe of me. So he decides to summon a DRAGON. Well, crap, I think, that can't be good. So using my "demon magic" technique of teleportation (yeah, a demon using a True Martial Artist technique called "demon magic". It's called irony, people!) I get on his back and then use a special technique that boots my speed for a split second. I hit him with lightning five times in a row and he goes poof. (summoned demons don't die, they just go back to where they came from, totally unharmed). Of course the crowd goes wild and I'm like, yeah, I just did that. So he summons a Kumiho which is kind of angry at being summoned (wouldn't you be?) but takes a shot at me otherwise. And by "a shot" I mean nine. One elemental attack: Fire from each of its nine tails. Whoops. I can only dodge 8 of the nine and get hit by the last one. I catch on fire. Taking this opportunity to fulfill my promise, and make it look good, I throw the fight and a winner is Ewen. He then fulfills his end and gets me out of the Area. Play resumes with the normal crowd, and it's back to being the Ewan show as he tries to protect his girlfriend from the heavenly forces trying to... kill her or otherwise mess with her. We're not clear on why the heavens have taken a hand in this, and how they even got here, heaven portals were closed a long time ago. It seems events are moving quickly towards Ragnarok if angles are running around loose on earth. We'll have to be extra careful from here on out. Got home around 2:00 AM because we played more halo. Woke up at 8:30, the normal time, fed the cats. Said to self, "Self, you've only gotten 6 hours sleep, let's try for eight." Went back to bed... and woke up a little before 12:00. Slacker much? Hey, I had a hard week. Yeah, that's it. My BFF (Best Facebook friend) had mailed me quite early in the morning, making me look even more like the lazy bum I am. Wrote a very long response back. Finished up that system from yesterday and put in the power supply I received a few days ago into the smoker's system. You should see the case of that thing, it's absolutely disgusting. And he wants to know "how much it's worth"? Well, it has a $40 power supply in it, so about... $40. Colored the comic I had penciled Saturday. Not too many calls this week, almost manageable, one might say. Started the movie Wolverine Sean had lent me, the "digital copy" that came with the blue ray copy he let me have. Oh, right, 2009, and PCs still can't match the Mac ease of use. K. But wait, what's this in the fine print? I feel for them, but I can't reach em! Made my phone calls, booked up monday and part of tuesday. Finished Wolverine. Wrote. Why do I still feel the day is only just starting? :-) Guess I'll go get ready for tomorrow. Sean also gave me season two of Dragon Ball Z. Maybe I'll watch some of it tonight, double speed. (The only way TO watch that show, you know) Current Mood: Ready to go! Whoops, my BFF just mailed me again! Maybe I do have something meaningful do to tonight after all. :-)
