Fri:
Had the morning demo, found the place ok.
We saw three new bugs during the demo! Whoops. So I got to go back and write up the three bugs.
Two are blockers. But they should be easy to fix according to the developer. We "fixed" the issue of the code not accepting a gif file, but even after it was accepted, it wasn't showing the image. There were no system beeps when typing in the password screen (that's a low priority) and a setting bounced back and forth depending on how you set the device up. Not a good look.
The developer who was there, by the way, was not at all happy with his India counterparts who he says are not... really the best, to put it mildly. We is quite perturbed at them.

Not much else of note work wise I don't think. Oh, I did get the color table so I printed more examples of that and left them for Kevin. He's out, so it was Don that told me about it. He'll have to come get them next week.

We'll be super busy monday, I can tell you that much. That should be the "final" build and we stop all this messing around. Still have one more demo at 8:30 of course. For the last bugs.

Did the shopping, got cat food, forgot mouse food, should have looked at the list, and saw my parents.

Back for game we got through the next leg of our spirit world journey, got an energy gift (a solved problem, perhaps more on that later?) and started the last leg (we think). Sean wanted to finish the spirit world that night. What a kidder he is!
Right, solved problems. With all the stories I read on Royal Road with neat magic systems, or systems in general, the more limiting I see Paragon. All I want is a toolbox I can pull tools out of to solve problems. And in this case I had done just that. I had low energy, I realized my summon had way more energy than I did and could give me some. Done deal. I didn't need the- don't get me wrong, welcome- solution from Sean at this point. I would much rather solve my own problems, which like I said before I had. I was happy with that solution. It's the same reason that character doesn't turn into a demon all the time, even though he could, and instead I made a plan once we get back to the real world to work on new talismans (now that I have like 60 XP or more). Talismans is me solving the problem. Sean handing me a button to press that gives me a bit more strength isn't as interesting. It doesn't feel earned. It's him handing me a tool, rather than me using my toolbox (such as it is) to solvet he issue.
Just more incentive to finish my own modular magic system I guess, I need to work on it more. Not that we would use it in any compaign but knowing it exists is something. That's the toolbox I want. Sean's magic system has a very, VERY hard edge. You know a spell or you don't. Magic is so short lived and hard to work with anything magical in the world has to be hand waved away. It doesn't fit into the larger ruleset.

Sat:
Looked into pi-hole to further block ads on the network. Was convinced it wasn't working for like an hour because it turns out, Firefox by default just ignores your system DNS anyway. Just doesn't even use it. As this method depends upon this it seemed to not be working. So much for easy setup. (as shown by the site) Maybe mention that somewhere prominently? No? okay.
Started with the lawn, picked up the sticks.
Then did the cutting. Bun Bun Bun! Saw a bunny in the side yard. Didn't seem too concerned with the mower. I avoided that area until they left of course. Saw them again in the back later, where are you living little bun?
Of course it was sunny while I was doing all this, when I was done it got cloudy again. Thanks.
Cleaned up.
My latest frame was done building so I got that ready to go.
Checked sites.
Played a game.
Parents came for movie.
Then did Xbox. We did get a part or two we were looking for. I got to level 29 with my newest frame, and I discovered some things I needed to build that I had somehow missed? I had the parts and didn't start building them? How does that happen?

Sun:
It was raining, so I was not able to do the outside work. I wanted to start cutting those nasty leaf plants on the side by the berry bushes. It dried off, I probably could have, later in the day.
Checked sites, did my sunday reading instead.
Then did more game.
Went out at 1:30 for second work.
His machine had some problems. mbam installing into the temp folder? But it wasn't writable (despite him being an admin) when I tried to update ccleaner I got an error about some plugin directory? It was just a mess. Also why was he using an alienware machine? That's for gamers. He had like this AOL security thing, (huh?) he paid for mbam but wasn't using it? He also was paying for McAfee, which I made sure to turn off auto renew. You're welcome. It only had 40 days left, it's gone. How did you even... I don't get it. Don't understand it at all. And and his printer I think just lost the wi-fi connection? It was blinking. It had no control panel so I have no idea how he even set it up in the first place. Hate those. Hate them. Sold him a USB cable. Don't know how much McAfee is but I bet my visit paid for itself in that way.

Got back here after almost 2 hours.

Got ready for tomorrow, did my sunday stuff like watering the plants. Want to be ready to do xbox.

One call over the weekend, he wants Thursday.

Did Xbox. We got the new class (after about 1/2 an hour of trying) in Remnant, and got a bit further in the plot.

Mon:
Had the demo. Whoops, the image thing isn't fixed yet. Now who isn't testing their code, hummmm?
So do I take the build at the pre-release or not? I have no idea.
Got a minor haul, enough stuff for the week anyway, and more breakfast stuff.
But wait, when I checked later in the day I got the rest of it. Neat. I'll have some to bring to my parents after all.
They got the new kitties. Who are quite shell shocked, after being neglected for basically years. Hang in there kits.

Just worked on the magic system, haven't found a spell (in the main rules) I can't shoehorn into the block system. I  guess. It's a bit freeform but that's what I wanted. So that's good!

I didn't do work. I don't want to start on the build when things are still getting added to it, and then be told I need to retest with the "final" build. So yeah.

Went to second work. Thankfully, while his browser didn't have the password saved (it had a password saved, not the right one) he did have the correct one written down. So he was fine with the move, unlike the last guy. Got him all set.

Back here, checked sites, no calls.

Did xbox with the others, almost through the new content. I took out a mini-boss all by myself. So there.

Tues:
Quite busy at work. With no new build since Friday Joe was like "oh those changes won't effect us so go ahead and start the "pre-release" testing. And I was like, uh, okay? Because that's not really a great idea?

Well, anyway, he said it, so I did it. Wrote another 2 bugs, and found one that wasn't on the list I had written earlier. Whoops.

Otherwise some meetings as usual, a short onedrive meeting that we're on track, and the usb hub meeting, I'm not sure why I'm still invited to that.

Finished the cloud test, so tomorrow it'll be the yubikey test, which should go quicker. Then the shorter tests can be done.

Came back here, checked sites. One call, a paper jam? Really? Do you think I have some magical ability to reach paper that you don't have? Because I don't. Whatever, I'm going over there Saturday, yay.

More xbox.

Wed:
And then more work? No demos today, that was weird.

I went ahead with the yubikey stuff, found a thing or two as usual. Nothing major, but wrote it up.

Then moved to the cert additions, and this of course is the quickest to test. Getting back to stuff we did some time ago and didn't have a problem with. No issues, so I then polished off the LDAP data scrub test, at least as much as I could. Had trouble pushing the log, but figured that out. I just need someone to send it to me after finding it on the big server of logs, so I can make sure it's all scrubbed nicely.

Tomorrow I'll do a few of the card reader updates, we tested that one to death I doubt they broke it, and I can start on another model or whatever. Of course there will be meetings, it's Thursday.

Sean canceled game already, thought he was done with classes? Huh.

Came back here, checked sites. Had dinner.

Two calls. Both 20 minutes over the phone had them sorted.

Thurs:
So I did as I said, tested the card reader updates, and wrote up the bug I found earlier about accounting codes still being needed in the cloud mode when they're not needed in the smartcard mode. That was missed, apparently, when they were making the specs. I can't test what I don't know they need! So that was missed until Joe said he wanted a demo made so I set it up as they would.

What else? The meetings of course, onedrive and status.

Oh, got half a haul, I went for the other area but the lady was there changing the bag in the garbage can. Sigh. I didn't go at 10:30 as I would on days the date is shown on the food, because it was the 10th. They got rid of it early. Great.

We'll be getting the final build I guess, they're really pushing it out we usually get more time between releases. Not this time I guess.

Went out to second work. He admitted he hasn't turned the laptop on in a year, he was in the hospital, his memory is shot, and he was right. Not that anyone knows any passwords or anything but every answer to my questions was "I don't know." Quite annoying. I did what I could for him.

Back here I checked sites. One call, her huge problem was... drum roll please... moving her chrome window up a few hundred pixels. Yes, she somehow moved it down, but then was unable to move it back up again. It's been 40 years people. If you don't know extremely basic aspects of the tools you use by now, maybe the problem is you, and not the tool. Maybe.

Looking ahead no game tomorrow. I'll do the usual, shopping, and seeing my parents. I still have plenty of mouse food, should I go over there? No game so I could be a little later.

Saturday is game though. Maybe we'll get through my stuff? Alyx came through their surgery fine and should be fine to come so we may have everyone physically there? I do have a job at 1:00, as I may have mentioned earlier.

Oh, and Sunday is Mother's day. So I'll probably see my mother again then! With some sort of gift she can really sink her teeth into.

So that's it. Another week done. It's warming up, the berry bushes have leaves and little buds, truly, in the words of Starlight, most magnificent horse in the universe, "spring is in the air!"

See you next week.
