2024-05-30:
Fri:
Worked with Don on the lexmark issue. He really doesn't understand
things very well, or something. Had to make him a movie of the
behavior so he would understand it. But he finally did get it.
Had a long demo in the morning, like 2 hours.
Worked on spells.
Oh, oh, the haul. Right. Got the first half just fine. Went to the
second location and there was the guy cleaning the coffee machine or
whatever they do. Waited around in the room next to it. But he just
wouldn't leave! So I went back to the lab, waited until 11:15 and
went back over there. The machine was closed up, but there was the
janitor lady wheeling a garbage basket away. Blast, I missed it! Bye
perfectly good food! You will be missed.
Did the shopping, forgot the bank of course. Sigh. Saw my parents.
Aldi only had flour, not shorting or cinniman. I didn't want to
brave Wegmans aldi was bad enough. But at dinner I got the text
Oliver's meds were ready (the refill ran out in a few days, I'm glad
I looked it would have been another week or two before I was low
enough to worry about it) so I braved it anyway. It wasn't as bad as
I feared. They gave me a huge bottle, but only half full. Weird?
Very weird.
Game was delayed. But it did begin. We got part way through it. At
the end I messed up a hiding check and had to decide to continue
with the stealth plan with an XP reroll that probably wasn't going
to be that much better (I'm no stealth character) or just force the
confrontation then and there. Given the time crunch we were
operating under I decided to let it stand. Great, the huge giant
thing is some kind of summon from the one enemy. How did she get it
there so fast? If it's not magic what is it? Very strange.
Wonderful.
Sat:
Cleaned up. Mostly the oven, that was basically full of mouse poop.
Neat. Left the drawer off and put the trap under there. We'll see if
we get any bites. Why are they going in the oven anyway? Weird.
But I did the floors, and such. Started raining pretty hard around
lunch time.
Checked sites.
Worked on putting more plants in pots. Just one more stalk that
won't really fit, and has the leaves and the root part going the
same way. So that's just hanging out at the moment. So many plants.
Played more Sakura games until my parents arrived.
Did the movie.
Then Xbox.
Sun:
Pretty busy actually.
Did a bunch of yard work. Moved some berry bushes. (3 into the
starter home I tried to do cat grass in last year) A couple of
others just moved away from the edge and more towards the middle.
Dug up more of that yucky ground cover, away satan! Let's hope they
survive.
More weeding. Lots more. That stuff grows very fast. But the berries
are looking good for this year so I'll at least get some.
Cut the back lawn once it dried out.
Did my readings for the week.
Cleaned up the breezeway a bit.
Watched Dune. All 2.5 hours of it.
One call, 10 minutes to get the ink out of her printer. It takes 5
seconds. Also, if you're using the machine that infrequently, get a
laser printer.
Did some Xbox with the others.
Mon:
The morning was taken up with Dune 2. It's a long one.
Checked sites.
Did more games. Still so many to go.
Did a kitty walk. Saw our bun! Let me get pretty close, didn't seem
concerned just was eating weeds like there was not a care to be had
in the world. Tinker was all low and tail swish but bunny calmly
hopped away after a bit and so we continued.
Got ready for tomorrow. Farewell, my extra Sunday! My next day off
is only 3 weeks away, a Wednesday of all things. That'll be odd. Go
to work two days, then don't, then go back another two days?
Tues:
Sad news. I probably won't be seeing my brave bun anymore. Saw a bun
in the road right in front of the house. Bye bun...
Must have lost power over the weekend? The clocks are all wrong. But
the printers seem to have stayed on? Ugh, my monitor is displaying
the language selection again. But as the buttons don't work I'm
stuck with it. It'll go away eventually. Huh maybe if I unplug the
monitor cable so it goes to sleep? Ah hah, yes, that worked!
Brilliant plan, Brain.
No haul in the morning, it's today's date though. I'll go back in a
few hours.
No haul today, but there's still hope for tomorrow.
Worked on the D8.0 stuff. Did 3 of my "easier" ones. Two are really
easy, one is just a bit longer. Everything was basically the same,
no new bugs but all the old bugs are there. What a shock.
Went to the bank, as I remembered to do it now.
Then to good will. Got a few goodies!
Back here, did a kitty walk. Checked sites, had dinner.
Did reading research for the building block spell system.
Got ready for tomorrow and then did xbox with the others.
Wed:
Almost did the demo. Sadly the machine was no longer in the right
config? where did it go?
Worked with Adnan a bit on his stuff. Getting him EIP tools and
such.
Got a fantastic haul, more than a box.
Finished the main spell conversion. I'm satisfied that my method is
at least as flexible as the Paragon "method" now it's time to
re-read Ar'kendrithyst (already begun) to get more ideas and write
everything up.
Brought food to parents.
Got back here, checked sites, ate dinner after kitty walk.
Did enough Xbox to get the last part of a warframe I wanted. It was
fine.
One call, half an hour to turn her background green and answer a few
questions. Sigh.
Thurs:
An historic day, to be sure. The man who lies with every breath, who
increased our countries' debt, who put kids in cages, who reduced
taxes for the rich, who tried to build a wall, who loves dictators
and the only prayer he has ever said in his entire life is to become
one himself -
has begun to pay for his crimes.
-
A jury of 12 found him guilty of all 34 counts.
Lock.
Him.
Up.
Why do we have to wait until July 11th to sentence the man? He's
right there. The judge is there. What is there to think about? He
did crimes, the punishment for the crimes is well defined. Lock.
Him.
Up.
Before he does any more damage to the collective psyche of our
country. At this point I doubt it will ever recover but maybe, just
maybe, sanity can once again trump the cultish devotion to a man who
cares only about himself.
(see what I did there?) Four years per count? Seems about right to
me. Let him spend the rest of his life in a cell. It'll be the absolute
least he deserves for what he did to us. (He wanted you to
inject bleach. He stared into the sun. How many businesses has he
run into the ground? How many lives has he ruined?)
Bring on trial number 2.
And 3.
And 4, if the judge he himself appointed (oh that's legal?
really?) ever decides to hold it. What a farce.
Anyway, let's talk about me!
Lots of meetings today. Like, the afternoon was packed full of them.
So many meetings. Joe meetings. OneDrive meetings. Don meetings.
Spec meetings. I did the plants early I knew we weren't going to get
through the spec in one hour and that meeting was 3:00-4:00. I had a
vet to get to.
My demo machine is fixed again, let's hope it stays, we're recording
the demo tomorrow at 10:00.
Otherwise, sure, work stuff. It happened. Honest.
Came back here, got a kitty, brought him in for checkup, told them
about the mucus problem, she suggested two puffs per day for now.
Came back here. Did a kitty walk. Moved one tiny berry bush I found
on the walk way in the back, we hadn't gone back there yet so I
hadn't seen it. Saw more weeds to whack though.
Then sites and dinner and such.
Talked to two... fine... people... about their computer issues. The
first guy (who is clearly losing it) I spoke to a month or so ago,
his son got his account working again when he came here 2 weeks ago?
This is the frontier->yahoo thing no one else seems to have had a
problem with. So he claims it doesn't work again. Trying to get him
to reset the password was an exercise in futility. He can't follow
the simplest of directions. How does he put his pants on in the
morning?
The second lady screwed herself! She told me a tale of what she did,
but her chrome history told a different story. Somehow she did a
search for "vanguard login" and got on some fake site, despite me
doing the same search and getting the real site. She was of course
scammed because sure, why not just call a random number on your
screen? It's the internet, you can trust everything on the
internet. Everything. Even me!
I kid! I would never lie to you.
Or would I?
You'll never know.
Anyway, back to the lady.
I have hopefully impressed on her "don't search for information you
already know. You want to go to a site? Type the name and add dot
com on the end. Look at the URL. Is it correct? Is it
reasonable and logical? Or is it a random group of letters and
numbers? I've explained what a URL is three times. Look at where
your cursor is. This is a URL. This. Here. This. How have you people
survived into the modern age?
Anyway, enough rage. Rage is the little killer. I will allow it to
pass from me, and then only I will remain.
Looking ahead!
Demo tomorrow, and something else I'm sure will come up. Right?
Sure.
Seeing my parents, shopping, and game as far as I know. We can fight
off the giant thing and maybe get the whatizt we're after.
Saturday I'll go see yahoo guy (a 20+ minute journey) and get him
straightened out (if possible.)
Otherwise the usual stuff. Yardwork. Having my parents over.
Reading, to work on the building block magic system. Trying not to
strangle a guy.
Basking in the fact he's a guilty, guilty man. And that's not just me
saying that. See you in June, what am I going to make people for
Christmas?
