Fri:
Took a pretty in depth look at the new feature, wrote up a few more bugs that I didn't catch yesterday. Senpai also noticed that the scan to google service wasn't completing at all, so I checked my machine out. Same deal. Old version? Worked fine. What did you guys do?
I hesitate to start just massively testing because the release notes just specify a few things worked on, but then something like that happens.
Pretty quiet with just the two of us there.
After that I went to the bank, saw the fireman's carnival stuff set up which surprisingly I don't really recall seeing before, though I know they have it there every year. Then shopping, back here to put groceries away, and over to Heather's for present day.
My little "stuffed Cerberus with harp" didn't quite come off as planned, she hadn't seen any of the Harry Potter movies. So she had no context for it. Has she been living under a rock all this time? I kid! I kid the sister!
Then back here, no calls amazingly. So I did the third wrapping of post, checked my websites, got ready for tomorrow, and watched one episode.
Also set up the monitor I got from James. Looks good! Maybe tomorrow I can actually try a game with it? (after picking berries, three appointments, finishing the cat playground, etc.)
Sat:
One delight after another to tell you about today!
Got to the first one and started hooking his stuff up. The win10 was installing and I realized he needed a router as well as the new modem. No problem, always have one of those.
Except when I don't.
So I went out to staples, waited because they didn't open until 9:00, and got one.
Drove back.
Now ready to set it up, the speed is terrible. We go through some things and it turns out it's the… splitter? Huh? How is that even… But it was. I asked if he had another, and turns out he had a whole box of the things! Huh.
Got win10 done, the install went smoothly so that's #3 SSd from the old game machine used. Just one left.
So now about an hour late to my 10:00, but at least that went "pretty well." I had to reset the printer by pressing the go button 6 times? But it finally decided that yes, it was hard wired into the router so I guess I'll work.
Didn't eat lunch, went straight to the 1:00 and played Sailor Moon Drops until I ran out of hearts. Those stages get tough fast! Stupid tuxedo mask, demanding gems all the time.
Oh, wait, I mean I worked. I transferred the files from one Mac to another, than erased them from the old one. Glad it wasn't a PC duo I was doing it to.
Finally got home about 3:00, ate "lunch."
Got even more great news, the state taxes "cannot be processed as filed because certain lines on your return are illegible." Oh really? Why not do the smart thing, pick up the phone, call me, and ask me what the line is supposed to be? Or email me?
But no, I have to resubmit that ENTIRE thing, so I sat and plugged the numbers into forms because honestly, my mother does it and her writing is way better than mine.
Got that done.
Was all about addressing an envelope, ready to hand to a guy with a leather satchel and riding a pony when it hit me.
"Dude, take a step back, what are you doing right now?"
"Freakin stabbing rip guurrrr kill!"
"Another step- two steps back!"
"Sigh. Fine. What?"
"Dude, the 90s are calling."
"The wha- FAXING!"
So I dug out the old usb modem and hooked that sucker up to my mac mini, and a bit of techo wizardry later to stick the signature on the one page, I was faxing up a storm. Took about 8 minutes to do my 8 pages wow such painful. Could have used email, would have transmitted in, oh, two seconds. But no.
Hope they're happy with that, it's all freaking typed now so they can't complain.
Picked berries. Not going to get nearly as many as last year. Not because there aren't a bunch out there- there are. But they're just shriveled up hard lumps. They have no juice inside! That's not going to make a pie, if I could even pick them.
And the bushes in the back look totally sun blasted, they're just dead. This years anyway. Next years should be okay, but really we need some rain soon.
Watched some Supernatural, and got 2 hours of Skyrim in. The new monitor looks great! Of course the new textures help, and playing without fear of an imminent crash was certainly nice too.
Sun:
Mostly watched the rest of Supernatural season 9, but I did have the morning/afternoon appointment with an old customer of mine that moved to Florida.
He wanted an app installed but he was way behind on iOS updates, and the old version just wasn't making it. Also he had some Mac questions so I took care of those too.
Not many calls, but I do have one for tomorrow.
Mon:
Moved on to my favorite set of test cases, the alerts, as I've done just about everything else.
Also had some pirogies made with blueberries that were interesting.
After work did the one job, just a checkup after she got scammed. Credit card company actually blocked the transaction, for once, so it seems they're finally catching on. Her house is right on the bay, and she's moving. Maybe I should buy it!
It's only on the market for $225,000! What a steal. $1,660 a month, and $10,000 a year in taxes. So basically every cent I made on the part time business would go to that. Huh. What the heck did she do that she could live there?
Anyway, watched a few more episodes when I got home. Apparently I missed ripping some, so I'l have to fix that later. One call, didn't reach them. But don't worry, I won't be rushing home tomorrow, my father's machine is now acting up, so I have to go take a look at that. And here I was thinking I could finally deliver that front piece to the dell I got like two weeks ago now. Ah well.
Tomorrow- more alerts testing, as I only got 1/3 the way through today.
Tues:
Ha ha! I didn't have to go there at all, my mother texted me before lunch and said it was working. We turned sleep off, how did it get on in the first place? Neither of those hackintosh machines I made can sleep. Do people even still make those? Huh.
Anyway, finished up the alerts stuff. Senpai wasn't there for half the day, his daughter was having problems with her eye, so he took her to the doctor who sent them to the ER. They don't think it's anything serious, thank goodness.
Couple of issues found, and written up. Almost at the 750 mark, just a few more to go!
Nice day out today.
With the afternoon feed up I went and installed the new front piece. Did they send me the wrong one or I did order the wrong one like an idiot? It was identical, expect for the all important "nose" part that was just slightly different. Thanks Dell. Luckily the power button control board was somewhat adjustable, and I did so.
Watched some Supernatural, but only after two phone calls, both which I walked through some stuff. So nothing for tomorrow!
That's a first in a while.
Wed:
Started the Accounting test cases today, but only after the meeting. Before that I went through the Alerts one and grouped them a little better because while running it through I noticed a bunch of them were similar and if I had done it before it would have been easier. So now they can be filtered and run one right after the other, a bunch of them can pass or fail as a group.
After the meeting started Accounting, which hasn’t changed basically ever. Got a bit more than half way I think?
Then back home, to watch more Supernatural. I seem to like the previous series better, this one doesn’t seem to have the coherent “this is the bad guy” vibe that one did. It’s more all over the place, which is fine, but I liked the format of having one major theme to work towards.
Got paid for the PC, so boxed that up. Have to take it down after work or during my lunch break, haven’t decided.
Got two calls, another “oh windows 10 suddenly” story so I’m very glad that’s almost over. And scam dating site guy who seems to have infected himself again. He’s complaining about not being online and the RR guy telling him his Ethernet port was burned out? Uh, no? So whatever. That’s for Saturday, not looking forward to that. Tomorrow’s should be quick though.
Thurs:
More taking on the more minor test cases today so there wasn't much exciting going on. Just sort of plugging away. But hire buddy's name is leaving the "last modified by" column of the website. Bye hire buddy!
Tomorrow a bunch of logging stuff. I plan on doing the whole test, then looking through the logs, rather than trying to do one test case, then get the log, then look, then do the next one, get the log, look, etc. Madness!
After work job didn't take too long. Took longer to get home. Accident right at the entrance of 104 so I got off and ran smack into it. Anyway, she just had some questions about things, which I answered. Also sent the PC on, which of course cost more than I had been given. Still, she's giving me half so I can't complain about that.
Got back here and saw both cats using the beams on the playground to scratch on. I immeditaly gave them treats, good kitties!
More supernatural of course.
Might go to Sean's this weekend, he asked about my availability.
Tomorrow- logging tests, no bank, not enough checks. Shopping, staples to use up my rewards to buy a router (again) and then to see my parents.
No calls today so at the moment only the two saturday and nothing for Sunday. Might get through these episodes and back to Skyrim yet!
Tune in same complaining time, same complaining station next week.
