2014-07-17:
I actually had enough ideas to fill out the rest of the chapters! Hazaa! Called a person to tell them how to open a folder.
Very nice out.
Played a bit of Last Dream, got wiped out in a cave by insta-death enemies. That's fair.
Then I went swimming. Yes, it's the "first" friday of the month and I actually remembered. It was fun. I just hope I'm not sore tomorrow.
But you know something odd? The place was empty. When I left around 7:30 there was no one in the shallow end, and only one man and one woman in the lanes. When I last went (which was last year sometime) place was packed. Weird. Also weird is the $1 they make you pay now to get in. What's that all about?
Then I did something… I'm not proud of it. I promised myself I wouldn't, you know? I told myself, "I'll play some video games, or make use of that very expensive 3D printer that's just sitting there. Or something!"
But no. I had to start book 6. On the way home from swimming I thought of the perfect opener, so I had to get it down. So I wrote 600 words, figured out Hisoka's character sheet, what her gun does.
I know, I know, I'm a terrible person.
Even found an error in the main book.
She's a bit more interesting now, I gave her some unique backgrounds and weaknesses, we'll have to see how they interact with each other.
In other book news, the copies shipped, so I should have them next week. Please, oh please, be okay.
Sat:
I continued the depravity. I made her companions for the first half of the book, a Spirit Energist, a Holy Chosen and a Songstral. Hopefully gave them some interesting backgrounds and weaknesses, I guess we'll see. That was the morning.
Picked another ton of berries. Have to start eating berries I guess. But I have delicious pie to eat before then. I'll take some to Heather tomorrow!
Wasn't sore at all, really. Some might say that means I didn't work hard enough the day before. Ha! They should be glad I did it at all.
PIE! Made two pies. One with normal, boring, standard white flower. The other half boring standard white flower and half whole wheat flower. Mainly because I didn't have enough of the white stuff, and had plenty of the whole wheat stuff. And I still have enough for probably another two pies. I don't know what it is, climate or whatever, but I am loaded with berries this year. Usually a couple of pies is all I get, but this year they're everywhere, and still getting ripe. Weird.
Anyway, apart from making pies I wrote more. Chapter 2, to be precise. Coming along better then planned, with 6,000 words requested, actual words: 7548. Not bad, not bad at all.
Also sold the Apple and Mouse and one set of the magazines. So I guess I get some money after all. (If they pay)
They have mostly paid. Now to box this monster up.
Sun:
NOW I remember why I hated doing ebay stuff! Packaging all that stuff up. Trying to get a box for the Apple Iic was the biggest pain. Oh well.
That took the whole morning, so finally after some tasty pie… I mean lunch I get back to…
Do I even need to say it?
I'm so boring.
Got up to 10,427 words before I went to get ready to go over to see my sister for her birthday. Not quite done with chapter 3, but close.
Mon:
Went shopping. A bit of trouble at Staples, because they sent the balance of my reward money… to my email. As I never get receipts from them, I figured I wouldn't get that either. But I was told I could use the same number and get the balance, which I hope is correct. (As he gave me the wrong paper back, I spent all of the $26 one but only $5.00 of the $20 one, and he had it the other way around.
*christmas gift alert*
Otherwise, I had not weighed the package correctly, so I'm glad I went and checked that. I need a scale that handles more weight. My current one goes up only to 10 lbs or so, and this was 20. My bathroom scale I don't think works at all.
Got home, was about to each lunch and got a call from a Mac user I work for. Ended up going over there, he couldn't do the simplest things I wanted him to do. (And his machine is so ancient I can't just screenshare with ichat/messages)
Then went over to do my one "scheduled" job for the day, looking at some guy's outlook. He has a 4.5 GB outlook file. Seriously. He had 20,000+ unread messages dating back to 2011.
I broke it up into separate PST files by year, which of course took forever (I'm still there) and then started the "compacting" so it would actually erase from the main file.
I left that running, as it was also taking forever. (How am I here?)
I took the Macbook that was dead with me, turns out it is the cable, as my cable powered it up just fine.
Also have to replace the keyboard on the unit, as several keys don't work.
And that was today. I did get some calls after 5:00, so there was me thinking "Hey, I'll have jobs for tomorrow!"
NOPE.
One person needed their USB wireless adapter unplugged and replugged.
The other needed their printer reconnected to the wireless.
Total phone time: a half hour.
Oh, and one person called that their machine was hung at boot, but then called again that it was one of their external drives hanging it up, and it booted when it was pulled out.
So I got nothing.
I did have a dude randomly show out of nowhere with two laptops.
One running win8 that need some cleaning out, and it's running at all of 1.3Ghz. Ouch. I offered an SSD to speed it up a bit and he accepted.
The other has a totally seized up fan, and 40 minutes later I had finally freed the thing from the case and ordered a replacement. Hard to find one not in china, but I managed it.
So I made a little more then I expected for today.
Still got nothing for tomorrow though.
Got up to 13,517 words though. Should be a good day of writing ahead on
Tues:
Unless books come in the morning, and I have things to do relating to them.
And they did.
[[image file="2014-07/bookscame.png" alt="Buy ALL the books" ]]
They came pretty early, so I looked them over to see if they were okay, and they seemed to be.
Separated out the ones for the library, to my Aunt, and to sell.
Brought the sell ones over to my parent's house so they can go to the shops tomorrow.
Stopped at the library, hope they get on shelves and not as part of some sale or another.
Went to staples. As expected there was problems with my coupon, but they worked it out. I needed a flash drive to reload this HP the guy dropped off. I figured that might be easier then trying to do the whole pirate bay route. I still got a disk, I'm going to try it, but at least I'll have the backup of the system image in case something doesn't work.
And to the post office to get the replacement + book 2 out to my aunt.
Had lunch over there (at my parents', not the post office) and came back here.
Approved all the books for sale outside of Lulu.
And rewrote a bit of the current chapter. Thinking about it, I wanted thing to go a slightly different way then they were, and I wasn't too far in to it so that was fine.
The rewrite spanned three chapters total, so I'm heading to chapter 4 in my notes, but it's chapter 6. It also turned out way better than my original plan, so that's all to the good. 18,600 words. Am I almost a quarter of the way through already? Though it looks like it might be way longer then 80,000!
Got two calls for today, one person not home and one who wanted Friday at 3:00. Tomorrow is one in the morning, here. Guess I'll be back to writing?
Wed:
Did the short one in the morning. It had a few problems, like two antivirus products, and a bit of nasty stuff installed. Mbam found just a few things, so it didn't take long at all.
Sigh.
Then went back to writing. Got up to chapter 8, with 24,259 words. Looks like I started this one 7/11 at 8:46 which is probably about right. That means it's almost exactly five days (being 7:27 right now) or 4851 words per day, average. Keep up that pace, and I'll have this book done in 12 days!
Probably not realistic.
Got a few calls, yay! Only got back to one person! Booo! One person didn't answer, one person's mailbox was full. One person wants next week as the time. Le sigh.
Picked and froze more berries, that was an activity.
Put my books up on Facebook, now that they are set to order.
Got back to everybody! They all want… next week? Huh? Okay, so I think I have at least one place to go almost every day next week, but still no jobs for tomorrow. That makes sense.
Cool out. I read it was the warmest summer on record in some places, but it still feels like fall around here.
Ended the day another thousand words up, 25,768.
Thurs:
31,342 words, that's really all you need to know.
I got one call, didn't reach them back.
Picked a few more berries.
I do have a job tomorrow, and I picked out some new pictures to paint, seeing how I finally sold my first one. It only took a couple of years. So I'll head there before/after I visit my parents and buy some materials. I'll need some burlap like cloth, pink and yellow string, shoot how am I going to do her eye? Maybe some felt? I bet that would work. I have three pictures in mind, one of Twilight, one more crafty one of fluttershy made of yarn, and one painted fluttershy not done in the style of the show.
Did I sell some books today? *rolls 8-ball*
NOPE.
I did get the SSD installed, and windows 8.1 loaded. The trick of using an "install key" then putting in the right product key that I got from Belarc Adviser actually activated the thing. Astonishing. Had to run Windows Update 3 separate times before it got them all. THREE. And the task manager is a joke. It sits there downloading but shows no activity over ethernet. Really? How is it downloading then? Stupid windows.
No news about game this week, so the only weekend activity will be calling this guy (if I don't tomorrow) that I didn't reach, and I guess writing? Or maybe painting. Or maybe both, nothing says I can't do both.
Except TIME AND SPACE.
See you all next week, for hopefully a more money making but less writing filled journey of discovery.
